TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a DTV Visa and your passport is about to expire, it is important to take specific steps. You should obtain a new passport and bring both your old and new passports to the immigration office. They can transfer your DTV Visa to the new passport. It's crucial to keep both passports to avoid any complications with your visa status. Additionally, consider making photocopies of the data page of your old passport for safety, in case it gets lost.

Just in case you lose your old passport take a photocopy (and a photo) of the data page which might help

Keep both passports, make some copies

Go to immigration and show both to get it transfered

That's not possible, it's an e-visa

immigration can’t transfer a visa that’s been issued by a different government department. You carry both passports for the duration of the visa.

weird since others have done it. Maybe comtact the right department then.

You can only transfer an extension of stay, you can't transfer a visa.

I’ve not seen any instance of anyone having a visa transferred. Obviously would love to see proof of that.

i saw people saying it in another visa group. Never seen what your saying. Visa is connected to passport number, and would be weird of not possible to transfer. People loose them or get wet and destroyed. So must be a way
Stuart *********
@Kurt ************
Ok. People in other groups may have been confused with entry stamps transferred to a new passport but a visa itself can’t be transferred.
Kurt *************
@Stuart ********
doesnt make sense not beeing able to transfer. Where you have this info from? What if passport is lost or destroyed??

@Kurt ************
a visa sticker or a visa pdf document will NEVER get "transferred" by the Thai Immigration. They do NOT have the right to do that, by law
Kurt *************
@Greg **********
so how? The e visa is connected to the passport number. They must have a way to transfer it to a new passport if lost or destroyed

You’re asking if things in Thailand “make sense”. Been here a while?

What if you lose your new passport?
Sean **********
Receive the new passport and take both to Immigration. They will move the visa to the new passport.

Note: if your passport expires normally your visa will expire with it. Get a visa transferred before this happens.

@Sean *********
there is no visa to move. The visa is on a pdf document sent by the embassy and that document has a passport number on it. That's why you need both the old and new passport.

@Brandon ***********
ok, then I suppose that is the only method.
Greg ***********
your visa is a piece of printed paper. Your passports only contain "admitted stay" entry stamps. Keep both passports. Fresh entries will always get stamped into the new passport, but you need to show them the paper visa document

@Greg **********
Your passport number changes with a new passport
Bob **********
Carry both

Don't lose the old passport.
