📩 Community Support Request — DTV (Soft Power) Application Rejected

Edit: New update, I was speaking to an agent and he said when they requested for all pages of passport this includes cover to cover of the passport and I missed some pages. 😓 I'm starting a new application now.

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some advice from this community.

I recently applied for the DTV visa (Soft Power – Muay Thai) in Bali, Indonesia, and my application was rejected without any reason provided.

Before the rejection, the consulate asked me to submit every page of my passport, which I did, and then shortly after I received the rejection notice.

A bit of background about my situation:

✅ I’ve been traveling in and out of Thailand for the past 1.5 years (many visa runs, which are clearly visible in my passport)

✅ My source of income is rental property, and I submitted:

• 3 months bank statements showing >500,000 THB

• Tenancy agreement + renewal letter

• Stamp certificate

• Quit rent + assessment tax

✅ I previously overstayed 1 day, but I paid the fine at the border

So far, no explanation was given for the rejection, and I’m trying to understand whether:

1. Anyone has had a similar experience applying in Bali

2. My frequent visa runs could have affected the decision or the 1 day overstay

3. It’s worth reapplying there or trying another consulate/online

I’m currently considering speaking to an agency - Belkin Group Indonesia or MPG Bali Visa Agent for guidance, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through something similar especially those applying through Soft Power / Muay Thai.

Any insights, experiences, or suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you so much 🙏

Man, don’t promote specific agents

It’s your longevity staying in Thailand for 1.5 years on visa exemption stamps and I’m guessing 30 day extensions, then your overstay

This shows that you were living in Thailand without a visa and was not a tourist

Good luck in the future

I can't help but feel there is some information missing from your post

I applied in Hanoi (softpower cooking class 6month course) and had overstay of 6 days before, so I don't think is the reason but I also had an ED visa for 14 months before (applied for DTV right after) so didn't do border runs.

Do you any problem during the time that you have ED visa?

@Yunee ****
ia had my overstay during that time as the school did not get the documents on time before extention. The ED language course visa was not my favorite to say lightly as you have to go to immigration often to extend and pay 2000 bath each time (I think it was around 7 visits for 14 months) cannot leave the country without paying for the re-entry permit and potentially be target of immigration at the airport and be asked many questions (in my case in Thai as I studied Thai). If you can get it the DTV is better and cheaper option.

Could be a non approved muay thai gym or your courses were too short.

You say visa runs, does that mean you were on a visa or were you using the visa exempt option? Were you in Indonesia before you submitted your application and stayed in Indonesia the entire time? Did you have an Indonesian entry stamp? How long was the Muay Thai class for?
DTV_Be*******
DTV_BegPecker it’s his visa stamps of staying for 1.5 years

He was living here not a tourist

Then he had the overstay
DTV_Be*******
DTV_Begpacker I am surprised they allowed him to stay for 1.5 years of visa exempt. 1 day overstay isn’t a big deal. Many others have got a DTV with an overstay, as long as minimal.

i think in your rejection over stay is a key

1 day? You must be kidding
Ammy *******
Over stay - is over stay not matters how much time or reason ..!! They considered it as a low point
Vladimir ********
@Ammy ******
you’re wrong mate. Overstay doesn’t matter absolutely at all IF it happened just once and didn’t exceed 3-5 days.

@Vladimir *******
fully discretionary. its on the system and it only takes an official with a bad mood or whatever

Did you stay in Bali the whole time?

How long was you Muay Thai course for ?
