Hi, my passport expires tomorrow and I am getting a emergency passport while waiting for the arrival of a new passport. My retirement visa also expires next month but I have a stamp from last month that allows me to stay till mid March.

Question- do I have to report to Pattaya immigration to show the new emergency passport and also do I have to apply for a new visa now or can I wait till March?

Do not make accusations when you do not know anything.

For the benefit of many, I have applied and waited 4 months for my passport. AND I visited my embassy before Christmas and was told to go back on 13th Jan, day before my passport expire to get a paper certification. In fact, when I wenr yesterday I was told to submit an application for the emergency passport but need to go back on Fri to collect. I had to explain the travel ban situation and how I had to get extra papers for travelling (not that it was required at all) before my embassy finally agreed to make one for me after waiting for 4 hours.

So, Rome, before you start accusing people in future, take your time to find out the pain we have had to go through.

So now we know the REAL answers, You start on overstay TODAY (500 baht a day) So what you need to do is GO to your consulate, get an emergency passport, then immediately go to the immigration office, pay the overstay fines (500baht for every day past the 14th of Jan) and then apply for the 60 day unable to travel due to covid extension

TIME is of the essence because you're on overstay starting tomorrow and the faster you can get an emergency passport and get back to the immigration office to apply for a covid extension the less it will cost you

First off; how did you manage to get an extension stamp that lasts longer than the validity of your passport? :O

I don't know any immigration office that will do that.

The rule changed a couple years ago that you can only get an extension valid up to the expiration date of your passport.

I thought the same but the officier gave me a stamp that expires in March. ๐Ÿ˜€ I was not about to argue with him.

And
@Pattaya ***
, as you can see in the stamp they gave her she ONLY got an extension dated until her passport expired today (Jan 14 2021) In fact they issued it for a year THEN they noticed the passport expiration date.

SO my question
@Judy *****
, how did you manage to get an extension inked in your passport that is valid longer than your passport's expiration is stil the question.. Did you go get the extension on your own, OR did you hand your passport to someone to "get it for you"?

Got the stamp myself. Not by agent.

@Judy *****
Thanx for the info.

To summarize; you didn't get ANY stamp letting you stay past the expiration date on the extension in your passport (which is also the date your passport expires).

AND

You need to go get this sorted out FAST...

Umm, just so you're CLEAR, that is not a stamp that lets you stay until March :( That is a receipt of you doing a 90 day report AND telling you IF you get another year extension (which you didn't do) your NEXT 90 day report would be due ion March 8.

That paper doesn't let you stay here past the Jan 14th stamp IN your passport
