TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned because their landlord has not filed the TM30 form, citing a lost residency book, and is considering moving after only a week in the property. Responses suggest that the TM30 filing is primarily necessary for specific immigration interactions, but alternatives exist, such as staying in a hotel temporarily for proper documentation. There's a consensus that the landlord should have acted within 24 hours, and the user is advised to check for potential refunds on deposits.
You only need the tm30 if you're doing anything at the immigration office. And if you are, just check into a cheap hotel, print out your reservation and get the hotel's business card to go get your TM30 paper from immigration.
While I am all for following the immigration rules, the truth of the matter is;
unless you're going to the immigration office FOR something; certificate of residence, 90 day report, 180 day extension, etc., no one will know that you don't have a TM30 filed and no one will check whether one was filed or not.
exiting/re-entering the country doesn't require it.
In case you like staying there, the TM30 has nothing to do with your immigration status. It's just the Thai way to know where you live - or make you feel uncomfortable for as long as you are in Thailand...
