Hello,

I’m from the USA, I have been thinking about traveling to Thailand this year. I have seen that US travelers don’t need a visa to visit Thailand, but I was wondering if there was anything else I need to take care of so that I am not turned away at the airport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
US travelers do not need a visa for short stays in Thailand but must prepare various documents due to COVID-19. Essential requirements include a Certificate of Entry from a Thai embassy, a 'fit to fly' certificate, a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to travel, proof of booking for quarantine (ASQ) hotels, and travel insurance with coverage for COVID-19. The rules can change frequently, so consulting the Thai embassy's website for the latest information is highly recommended.

I’m in USA also! Trust me I would go tomorrow if there weren’t so many conditions! I’m usually there 3 times a year! Last time November 2019! 😡

Don't bother this year. Plenty of nice places to go in USA without the hassle. I'd go to Hawaii.
Neil ********
@Leigh *******
hawaii requires quarantine I think even for domestic travelers... No point
ᘻᗅᖶᖶᗁᕦᙛ *******
Huh. U.s. travelers don't a visa ? When did this happen???
Stuart *********
@ᘻᗅᖶᖶᗁᕦᙛ ******
USA citizens can enter Thailand visa exempt. They get 45 days on entry (used to be 30 but now takes in to account for the need to quarantine). You still need to jump through many hoops to get in. Not something a “normal” tourist would do.
Paul *****************
I travel to Thailand again when 15 Days Quarantäne jail for 2000$ away. Not wasting my Time and Money
Giorgio ******
Good questions 🤣🤣

I'm from USA. I have escaped winter in north America for the last 29 years by snow bird to Thailand. I'm here in snow and winter in USA this year. I've been trying to keep track of Thailand travel for USA passport. If I were you I'd skip Thailand this year. Go to Mexico or Nicaragua or Costa Rica. Thailand will be screwed up for quite a while
Paul *****************
@Larry *******
yes i not travel Thailand to. I travel again without 15 days Qurantäne Jail for 2000$ in Bangkok Control at Government pay Big Money lose Time to.
Stephen *********
@Larry *******
What kind of screwed up do you mean?
Larry ********
@Stephen ********
14 day quarantine. That's screwed up. I'm not going anywhere to do a 14 day quarantine
Stephen *********
@Larry *******
That's pretty much true universally and those time constraints keep me from traveling also.
Larry ********
@Stephen ********
no not universal Mexico Guatemala Nicaragua Belize have no quarantine
Albert ********
A vaccine card would be great.
John ******
Not sure what you situation is but last time I checked the max fee you may have to pay to get out of the country is 20,000thb
John ******
That was what I ment to say. No matter how much you mess up you visa the most you have to pay to get out of country is...
Benjamin ******
@John *****
you don’t have to pay 20K THB to get out of the USA. You also don’t need to pay 20K THB to leave Thailand (unless you are on overstay by whatever many days)
Carlo **********
Don't travel at the moment.
John ****************
Contact the Thai Embassy in WDC... lots to do...and expensive... but doable. Better to wait - as advised above. (Maybe pick an 'OPEN'country in Central or South America or the Caribbean...
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
I would recommend you use the search function that is at the top as this is is a complicated question that has been answ3ered many times before.
Scott *******
Does it depend on what country you are flying from? If your country is considered high Covid risk?
Scott *******
Thanks Stuart, but not what I meant. No issues with mandatory quarantine. Some countries allow certain people in, but don’t allow others, depending on the country they are traveling from. Or is Thailand allowing all people in no matter where they travel from?
Stuart *********
@Scott ******
as long as they’ve got a certificate of entry from a Thai consulate and relevant visa (if needed) and medical insurance then they can enter.
Stuart *********
@Scott ******
no. All people entering must do mandatory quarantine. Some hotels may impose different rules depending on where you’re from, but that’s hotel specific.
Wendy *********
Do your homework. Changed a ton since COVID , bring copies of everything.
Tod *********
Here's a thought, how about you click on the Thai consulate in New York's FAQ's and read the requirements to request entry to thailand ?

Lol guys post 5 times a day been living under rocks for a year

You need a COE from the thai embassy,a fit to fly letter a negative Covid test no older than 72 hours before you fly you'll need an ASQ hotel booking and a flight booking before you get you COE (Certificate of entry) good luck
David ******************
Bob D'Andrea don't think a COA will cut it. Definitely need a COE though.
George *********
Would wouldn’t you just get you’re visa prior to arriving? Just curious.
Justin *********
@George ********
because prior to Covid someone could (easily) enter the kingdom on a visa exempt.
Gregg *************
I’d stay home and save money

I have seen that there are 2 types of “Fit to Fly” certificates, one for covid and one for health. Would I need bit or just the covid one?
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
Where did you see? There is a fit 2 fly and a covid lab report.
Steve *********
@Chris ********
COE and covid test result are 2 quite different documents. You need both - separate.
Chris *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
So the Fit to Fly does not have to do with covid?
Chanachai *****
@Chris ********
1. Fit to Fly

2. COVID-19 PcR test certificate

But if you can find a company where can give you both in 1 document. That it ok! However, it need to show both Fit to Fry (from Doctor) and Covid-19 result!
Ryan ********
@Chris ********
there is only one type of fit to fly.

You Also need a neg rt-pcr covid test to fly.
John ********
Check embassy web site you need a lot of items
Stuart *********
You need a certificate of entry from your local Thai embassy. You need to do mandatory 15 nights quarantine in a government approved hotel, a negative Covid test 72 hours prior to flying and a fit to fly certificate. Oh and 100,000 usd Covid insurance.
Dick **********
@Stuart ********
you also forgot the medical insurance in addition to the covid insurance
David ******************
@Dick *********
what a clever dick you are

@Dick *********
you’re right I did. I think the OP got the point.
