Hey guys I did recently my stv visa extension but I stupidly applied for a month extension as I thought I would leave on September but seems like I have to be here at least until end of October and it was the last time I could extend my visa. Does anybody knows any ways for me to stay here without paying 500baht fee daily for overstay 🙏🏾🙏🏾

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their concern about running out of their STV visa extension and facing overstaying fees. They sought advice on how to legally stay longer without penalties. Responses indicated the difficulty of transitioning from an STV and suggested exploring a COVID-related extension, which some users confirmed as a possibility. Various comments discussed the implications of overstaying, including fines and potential bans, emphasizing that proactive measures are better than risking overstay. The conversation highlighted the importance of staying informed about visa regulations and seeking official confirmation on extension options from immigration authorities.

Can you get more than one covid extension?

Go out and back in. Really looks bad if you don't.

You can get the Covid extension on the STV which gives you 2 months each time. I’ve been to Phuket immigration and they confirmed it for my girlfriend.

Oh really? Got a screenshot? I never seen ANYONE get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 on an STV yet

I went to immigration and they said yes they will do, spoke to senior officer. Hopefully all okay next week when it needs to be done.

Wait, wait... people shouldn't post "opinions" about overstay if they don't have the facts. Last time I checked it was 500 baht per day up to a maximum of 20,000 baht. Has that changed? Overstay less than 90 Days = 500 Thai baht/day overstay fine (maximum 20,000 Thai baht)

Overstay more than 90 Days = 1 year ban from Thailand and 20,000 Thai baht overstay fine

Overstay more than 1 Year = 3 years ban from Thailand and 20,000 Thai baht overstay fine

Overstay more than 3 Years = 5 years ban from Thailand and 20,000 baht overstay fine

Overstay more than 5 Years = 10 years ban from Thailand and 20,000 baht overstay fine

you are correct with the fines and bans etc. However that’s only if you get to a border exit (these days only airports). You can get into a whole heap of trouble if you’re stopped before then and found to have broken the law.

@Stuart ********
I've had overstays before. I'm aware of how it works.

many people have. Many people have got away with just the fine. You seriously don’t want to be the one that doesn’t. It’s not nice. As I said I haven’t seen any reports since Covid, but there were horror stories from some people before.

I'm pretty sure if you overstay too many days that you'll have trouble the next time you want to come to Thailand so I would hunt hard for a better solution
Stuart *********
You really don’t want to go on overstay. It may seem trivial for 500 baht per day, but that’s only if you get to the airport. If you’re stopped at any form of checkpoint before then you would be seen to have broken the law and that opens up a Pandora’s box of problems. It could lead to being sent to immigration detention and deportation. Happened regularly prior to Covid. Not seen any instances recently, but I doubt you’d want to test it out.

yea exactly that's not what I want that's why I'm asking in case someone has a way otherwise I'll just leave

@Ciss *******
as Garrett said. You can try for a Covid extension. But there’s no guarantee they’ll agree to it.

ill try thanks

Only thing I could think of is you might be able to wiggle into a covid unable to travel extension. Not sure though. Definitely cannot transition to another visa from an STV though.

how did you manage get only a month extension out of an STV ? That visa allows you to get TWO 90 day extensions.

What did you do, only have 30 days of insurance or what?

yea my assurance finished 30 days and didn't feel like take a new one because I was sure to leave the country

@Ciss *******
I think they're gonna tell you to leave.

BUT

you are out nothing by going to the immigration office and asking if there is any option for you.

You could start calling some agents, but most aren't touching ANY covid extensions off STV's or if they are they're charging 10k and up to do one.

I was wondering if they could give me my 60days left even if I pay but if its too complicate well..life

Off an STV? No. You’re pretty much stuck with leaving. You may find an agent that can help but many won’t touch the STV.
