What are my options for extending a 15-day visa on arrival in Thailand as a Chinese passport holder?

Apparently one agency told me Covid extension is not an option for people like me who holds Chinese passport with 15 days visa on arrival?

To solve this problem she said:

for 15 days on arrival, you have to request letter from your Embassy, and we can assist with 30 days extension for of course huge amount of money.

I am literally drop dead. I only need 4 days more. My visa end on June 4th. I just need 4 days more to match my flight on the 8th. Ughhhh

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing challenges in extending their 15-day visa on arrival in Thailand as a Chinese passport holder. An agency informed them that a COVID extension is not available, and they've been advised to obtain a letter from their embassy to potentially secure a 30-day extension. However, this is complicated by their flight scheduled just four days after their visa expires. Commenters suggest options including paying a fine for overstaying, attempting to get a short extension, and the implications of overstaying which is described as generally acceptable in Thailand despite passport stamp issues.

The agency is offering to pay someone off the stamp you for a 30 day extension that you don't qualify for. Sounds perfectly ethical and not at all shady.

Just one thing to note with the 7 day "extension denied" non-extension, I understand it runs from the date you apply for it, it doesn't add on to the end like an actual extension. So if you need until 8th you wouldn't want to try to get it until the 2nd or it wouldn't be long enough.

So you had a 15 day visa but a return flight 20 days after your arrival. Why did you do that?

Another compatriot from Vietnam Visa advice has joined this group. Welcome.

Yes we definitely needed to be more careful when we chose where we were born. 😆

I think it is better for you to rebook the flight. You can also search for

I know. I read your post there in Vietnam Visa Advice. You got my compassion because Vietnam was also my prioritized destination but they actually don't allow us in at the moment while they pretend to. That's why I also opted for Thailand. Overstaying for 4 days is not considered a big deal in Thailand but it will be shown on your passport and this is not something you want to have.

As far as thailand is concerned, a 4 day overstay is no big concern. There will be a stamp in your passport that may cause an issue for other countries, but not for thailand. Fine will be 4 x days at 500thb so 2000thb. As far as your passport is concerned, you need to take that up with your government, maybe a stiffly worded e-mail may do the trick.

500Baht per day. 2000Baht for 4 days.

It’s not about your nationality, it’s about visa type. Cannot get covid extension for VOA.

But your embassy is issuing letter FREE for everyone , including VOA. Can get 30 days free.

“悟空外卖” can also help you get letter for free.

Don't worry about it. Just overstay by 4 days. Pay a 2000 baht fine. It really isn't a big deal. I overstayed accidentally once and was really worried about it, but they don't care. You'll be fine. No trouble, just pay at a little desk in the airport immigration.

Overstaying your date in your passport is breaking the law.

Many times on here people ask is it ok to overstay - 1, 2, 5 days etc. The fine at the immigration exit desk is 500 baht per day of overstay. Some immigration officers will waive the fine if it is only 1 day, but you’ll still get a red stamp in your passport.

HoweVer if you are stopped inside the country for any reason - like at a police check point - even on your way to airport or border crossing then be prepared for a whole lot of trouble.

The police may arrest you as you have broken the law. If they do you’ll be fined in court and then sent to the nearest Immigration Detention Centre, where you will be kept until you buy a one way ticket back to your home country. If you don’t have the funds for that you will be kept there until you find some means of raising those funds. Once you have your ticket, you will be deported and blacklisted from entering the country for up to 5 years.

Sounds dramatic but it sometimes happens. 500 baht a day sounds cheaper than 1900 baht at a local immigration office but in the overall scheme of things it is never wise to overstay.

I remember seeing placards at the immigration office that explains what the penalties are for a specific amount of over staying. There are no indication of blacklisting for the short amount of her over staying. She mentioned she has an outgoing flight already. I think you are fearmongoring.

yes it's breaking the law of over staying that's the only facts. Everything else not necessarily. Like I said I saw what I saw at the immigration office. Everything else is a crap shoot because of the inconsistencies with law enforcement here plus the possible corruption.

I believe it’s 500 baht a day, never done it myself but most of the season thailand travelers say a couple days shouldn’t be an issue.
