Hi all,

Your experience or problems in this matter will be appreciated. Have recently had a positive for covid, have taken PCR and am isolating at present, I fly to Bangkok on 1stfeb next year but by that date I will not be able to have another PCR as required because the 90days between tests will not of lapsed as if I do a false reading may result. So what do I do about proof of a negative covid result at check in. Thanks for any input.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about flying to Bangkok on February 1st while currently testing positive for COVID-19. They are unable to meet the 90-day interval required for subsequent PCR tests before their flight. Commenters provide insights suggesting that testing positive will prevent flight boarding, reiterating the necessity of obtaining a negative PCR result by any means, including weekly testing, while also noting the uncertainty surrounding travel restrictions due to new COVID variants.

Thailand will more than likely be closed down again by then because of the new variant.

Just take the chance. Without a negative PCR you won't be able to board the plane, so you've nothing to lose

He has a LOT to lose. Cost of flights and booked hotels can be thousands of dollars!

Erik Mc Thundersteel. If the airline refuses boarding, they will reschedule the flight and the hotel will reschedule the stay. There is only ever a problem with refunds, not with rescheduling. The test will be done 72 hours prior to the flight, which gives ample time to make changes, and then there's the chance that the test will be negative.

True.

There is no restriction on when you can take covid tests. You will not be permitted to board the flight if you test positive, period. Only option is to take the test once a week until you test negative, hopefully that's sooner than later.

I can now answer my own question. Do not take another PCR test within 90 days as can give a false reading, instead contact your own GP and they will issue you with a certificate stating that you have had covid and are now recovered which gives you the ok to fly. This info obtained through NHS today.

have been informed by NHS that if you take another PCR test before a 90 day period has elapsed you may get a positive reading in which case you should self isolate again and what a disaster that would be. Yes there are no restrictions on taking another test but if you did what a nightmare it could be. Reckon I could get a letter from GP. Thanks.

exactly my position, out of isolation today and hopefully will be clear by 27 Dec, not holding my breath but got everything crossed

just make sure you get a good insurance policy that you know covers a positive test hospitalization in Thailand even without symptoms. Thailand's PCR tests are more sensitive than many places, so testing negative at home might not mean you test negative on arrival. But if they've really switched to Antigen by the time you come, it'll probably be fine.
