Has anybody flown recently with Thai Air from Heathrow and used a Certificate of Recovery in respect of covid. I have everything booked and paid for, fly on 27 December and now testing positive with covid. Understand I can get a Certificate of Recovery in 14 days time, but want to ensure it will be accepted by Thai Air and once I've landed in Phuket as PCRs can show a positive reading for up to 90 days.

Any help or knowledge about this will be greatly received

this is my worry too. We are flying to Thailand in Dec with 2 children - both unvaccinated under 11yrs. One child has just got Covid last week 😫 but will be fine by the time we go (so long as the other one doesn’t get it too!). We are intending to get a certificate of recovery for my son but I am concerned he might get a positive PCR either before we fly or when we land. There is so little info online and I don’t know whether the certificate of recovery would override the PCR result. If you find anything out, please let me know 🙏🤞 and I’ll do the same.

to be honest I wouldn’t risk it! It’s a lot of expenses if one of your child test positive. All of you will be quarantined. With false positive insurance will not pay so it’s all out of pocket. This happened to me friend and his family. He tested positive once he was at the hospital it was false positive insurance wouldn’t pay plus His whole family had to be in a hospital. Cost over $15,000. No way I would take that chance . I would wait 60 days to be safe.

thanks for your honest reply - it is a very hard decision to make. It’s scary to think our insurance wouldn’t cover this - again something we will need to investigate further. I just can’t imagine how awful it would be to spend Christmas quarantined in a hospital and to miss out on a family get together on one of the islands. It is such a horrible situation to be in 😢

if you have a certificate of recovery and at least one vaccination within 3 months of recovery you will be allowed into Thailand.

my understanding of what you posted is "you only need 1 dose of vaccine if you've recovered from Covid and can show a certificate" but it does not change the requirement to have a negative test before arrival and you'll still be hospitalized if you test positive in Thailand.

I don't think the embassy will be able to help much. They don't have anything to do with what happens once you're inside the country. Even if they say it's okay, it won't mean much if you test positive and they say you have to go to the hospital once you're at your test & go hotel. You probably need to talk to the department in charge of Thailand Pass.

Carin de Vries. This doesn't actually exempt someone from having the PCR test, which is a separate criterion. This simply states a person needs only one subsequent vaccine

If your saying that you can show positive reading up to 90 days. I wouldn’t risk it! Knowing Thailand if you test positive even with that piece of paper they will stick you in the hospital and quarantine you and with your expense! I cancel or reschedule your flight for after your 90 days . Now that’s my advice . You can take your chances but if it were me I wouldn’t.

Claire Blainey. The certificate of recovery excuses you from having two doses of vaccine, it does not exempt you from having a test, either before departure or on arrival. There is nothing in the MFA website Q&A which covers this
