What is the process for renewing a non-O retirement visa extension and managing a re-entry permit in Thailand?

2 part question:

1- If you have a non-o based on retirement and have received the 1 year extension of stay. When my time is up, am I technically renewing me visa? Or am I just renewing my extension of stay? Just confused a little based on some other posts.

2- I have the multi-entry permit. From what Iโ€™ve read I do not need to do anything as far as immigration when I depart the country?

As always I am thankful to this group for providing me with clarity when needed.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has two questions regarding their Non-O visa based on retirement in Thailand. Firstly, they seek clarification on whether they are renewing their visa or just the extension of stay when their one-year extension expires. The consensus in the comments is that they will apply for a new extension of stay rather than renewing the visa itself. Secondly, they inquire about the procedure when departing Thailand with a multi-entry permit, where it is affirmed that no action is needed as long as they return in time to apply for a new extension. Comments emphasize the importance of properly identifying the retirement extension and re-entry permit when re-entering Thailand.

When you return to Thailand make sure you point out the retirement extension (a lot of people just call it a retirement visa) and the re-entry permit and don't just get stamped the
*****
day visa waiver as that stamp would cancel your retirement extension.

Malcolm Whitlock I have been advised to put the re-entry permit number, where it asks for s visa number when applying for the TDAC, I assume this is correct and should mean that the Immigration officer will look for this.

Michael Woodcock No, don't assume that, show your re-entry permit as you hand over your passport then check the date of your stamp when you get it back

Michael Woodcock good question. I hadnโ€™t thought of this yet myself. Unsure what to put in for visa number when applying for the tdac.

Hopefully someone here knows

MagentaOwl4649 you can leave the visa number blank its not a requirement. I never put my visa number in the TDAC application.

Michael Woodcock It's not something I know enough to comment on, sorry I can't help any more. The reason for my comment is that I have a friend who fell foul of this problem so I thought it is worth commenting on.

1. You are not renewing anything. You are applying for an Extension of stay based on b eing over 50 years.

Ypur re-entry permit is linked to your current 12 month extension so when you get a new extension you will then need to purchase a new re-entry permit (1000B single or 3800B multi).

1. You have an extension of stay.

2. You don't need to do anything when you leave the country when you have the re-entry permit.

1. You are not renewing anything. You apply for a new extension of stay every time

2. Correct as long as you return in time to apply for a new extension
