What should I do if I can't make my 90-day report with a NON-IMM O visa?

Hi,

I have a NON-IMM O visa. Last entry to the country was on 10th Febr 2020.

Today I went to Chaengwattana Immigration office as I read here in a couple of posts that it’s recommended to do the 90 day report as there are no long waiting time.

Well, as a matter of fact I was waiting for about 2 hours and after the waiting time the immigration officer over the counter whose English was very bad and limited told me: ‘No extension visa’ and she was pointing to my visa. I was asking her: I don’t need to report? She said: No, no. No extension visa. Then I asked, ok, but I would like to make the 90 day report, what should I do next? When should I come back? She kept saying: No extension visa and then she showed me to leave.

I’m a bit clueless. Can anybody help what went wrong? What should I do now? Thank you for all the help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused after visiting the Chaengwattana Immigration office to report their 90-day status while holding a NON-IMM O visa. Despite waiting for two hours, the immigration officer insisted that no extension or report was needed. Comments clarify that since the user is on amnesty after their visa's initial stay period expired, they are not required to make a 90-day report and the officer's responses were reflecting a misunderstanding of the visa situation.

IF you entered the country on the 10th of Feb you should have gotten stamped in until about May 9th, and you would have automatically gone on amnesty at that time and you would never do a 90 day report on that type of visa :(

So visa run is the only option with this visa? Last time i left the country, i accidentally overstayed and had to pay a penalty. Then the immigration officer told me, that if i don't want to travel, i have to report at Chaengwattana.

, on that visa, IF you don't apply for a yearly extension you bounce out and in every 90 days

no, you misunderstood the immigration officer. What they meant was IF you didn't want to bounce out and back every 90 days on the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa you would need to APPLY for a yearly extension of stay by showing 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply and by submitting the documents, photos, etc required to get the extension. THEN once the year extension is granted you would do 90 day reporting instead of bouncing out and back on the VISA entries every 90 days

thank s, got it. So what's my next step after the amnesty?

that's the million dollar question NO ONE knows the answer to.

All you can do right now is sit tight, watch for the news of the borders, the nearby countries opening up and any new re-entry requirements they might put in place AND if your visa (the sticker from the consulate ) is still valid when the borders open you can bounce out and back to get a new 90 day stamp like always

@Zoltan ********
that is why you do not do a 90 day report as
@Tod ********
replied. You are now on amnesty extension to July 31.

You need to understand the difference between a VISA and an extension. :O

If you had a year-long, multi-entry Non-O VISA <- that you got from a thai consulate in another country where you bounce out and back every 90 days you would NEVER do a 90 day report (because your entry stamp is only 89 days :P) AND even though you're "stuck" now where you can't bounce out and in because you're on amnesty you still wouldn't do a 90 day report
