Good day!
I'm a new member to this group and I've read some posts and understand how the work permit and Non-B visa is linked.
Here is my question, I resigned from old school and they took my work permit which was cancelled by them without me last Monday (@ Lamphun MOL)! I still have my Non-B visa which expires on 18th Sep 2022 and thought it would be ok to stay until then. (New school told me the same thing) but just realised that It' not. (After I read some posts here, i think I need extension)
The old school went to Lamphun MOL and cancelled my work-permit and had never issued me a receipt. The director of the old school called the new school several times and embarrassed me, told them not to accept me. But, the new school tried calling to Lamphun MOL and trying to apply new one. What would be the best option for me to get this done? I believe the seniors here would be of a great help to me. 😃
I gave one month notice to resign (on my 3rd month of probation) and an official resignation letter to them but old school didn't accept it. Am I overstaying here? This monday would be already a week after the cancellation of work permit.
I already started working with the new school in Chiang Mai. Shall I go to the Chiang Mai immigration office tomorrow or Lamphun's one? The new school is trying their best to assist me and said they can handle it, asked me 25,000 Thb to apply a new one. But, I wana make sure it all went well without having problems here. Thanks in advance everyone♡.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user recently shared their experience after resigning from a school in Thailand, where their work permit was canceled without proper documentation. They are now concerned about working at a new school while holding a Non-B visa, which expires soon. The main points of discussion include the importance of obtaining a new visa for employment, the distinction between a visa and a work permit, and the potential legal implications of working without a valid permit. Several commenters advised that the user should get a new Non-B visa from a Thai embassy, as their current visa is tied to the old employer, and that they may stay in Thailand until the visa expiration date without working.
