Hey all, hope there is on here there can help me find a answer to what to do.

I'm in that situation that I was on a non b visa with work permit, the place I worked closed down, don't have the work permit anymore, but have been staying here on my Non B visa, but it will expire here in the ending of march, I really want to stay here now I found an amazing girlfriend, but how can I make that possible?

Can I extend my stay with a turist visa and hope I can find a job in that period, ore are there other things I can do, hope there is someone there can help me find a answer.

Thank you so much in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how to stay in Thailand after losing their job and work permit while on a Non-B visa, which is set to expire soon. The community suggests looking into a 60-day COVID extension and offers alternative visas, such as a volunteer visa and retirement options if eligible. It’s noted that the Non-B visa is linked to employment, and guidance is provided on required actions regarding the termination paperwork and visa status. Users encourage the person to find a new job promptly before the visa expires.

Try your best to find a job before your current visa expires. In-country visa conversions might be tricky.

Just so you're completely clear
@St***
, IF you have an "extension of stay" based on employment in your passport (which is NOT a visa) it stopped the day they cancelled your work permit.

To apply for a covid extension you need to talk termination paperwork from your employer to the immigration office where you got the extension, cancel it, THEN apply for the 60 day covid extension.

The reason I mention this IS; if you're on an extension and your work permit was cancelled months ago you're on overstay from that date. I would suggest you go to the immigration ofice with your termination paperwork and sort this out sooner rather than later :)

The only reason you could still be staying on your non b visa was if it was made outside Thailand as and extension it is attached to the work purely.

So that dosent sound you have been here legit even you might have thought so

How could you keep the Business Visa without the WP anyway? Aren't they connected?

Got told from my job, that even the work permit got cancelled i could stay here so long untill my visa expired. was what theres agent told them should be a new rule i think

@Steen ***************
NO! Chances are excellent that your extension of stay based on employment was canceled on the same day as your work permit was canceled and you’re on overstay. The overstay fine is 500THB a day, a maximum of 20K THB. If you overstay for more then 90 days, and you turn yourself in, it’s a one year blacklist.

@Benjamin *****
are you sure about that, then I really don't get that they told me I could stay here.

I will try to read abit more, but thank you for your answer!

@Steen ***************
do you have a visa as in a sticker in your passport or are you on an extension of stay due to working ? When did you enter Thailand and start working. Makes a huge difference.

@Stuart ********
I got my non b visa and work permit last year in march.

And it is a stamp in my passport!
Stuart *********
@Steen ***************
then that’s an extension of stay. The reason you got the extension finished the day you stopped working (work permit cancelled). You needed to have left Thailand or switched to another reason to stay the SAME day. Regardless of what the stamp in your passport says you’re allowed to stay until. You are on overstay. Go tomorrow to immigration and apply for a Covid extension. You’ll need to pay 500 baht per day overstay fine plus the 1900 baht for the extension.

Can't get a tourist visa inside the country. Get a 60-day covid extension whilst you look for another job. Read "Private Dancer" by Stephen Leather
