Good morning to everyone, one question, I made my last extension in December 2024 after a 60 days exempt entry.

I'm back in Thailandia the 16 October 2025 and my 60 days exempt entry will finish the 14 December 2025

Will I get 30 days extension? Which will be the first and only in 2025?

After that I'll will flight to Vietnam for two weeks, should I get another 60 days exempt on my way back to Thailand?

And if my flight back home will be the 13 April 2026, do you guys think I can have another 30 extension? Which will be the first of 2026?

Thanks to everyone who will answer.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of obtaining a 30-day extension on their visa after returning to Thailand on October 16, 2025, following a previous exemption entry, and also about the conditions for subsequent entries and extensions given their extensive stay and travel plans.

More than likely you should face no problems getting an extension, you're here at the beginning of the year and back at the end of the year. Sounds like genuine tourist that likes to spend a few months here to me.

Get a visa instead of hassle with multiple visa exemption

too late . .There is nothing such as a "multiple visa exemption" . . .I love how many of the readers invent new words we have never heard before, there are real poetic talents out there . . . . . . . . . out of which nose did you pull this wording? . . . . . . . . and by the way, a multi entry Tourist Visa can only be applied in his home country Italy

I know. I mean of course recurring entries using visa exemption. Sorry for using wrong word.

Allow me a look across what we got here:

“Good morning to everyone, one question, I made my last extension in December 2024 after a 60 days exempt entry.

I'm back in Thailandia the 16 October 2025 and my 60 days exempt entry will finish the 14 December 2025

*** let’s break this down, the 30 days extension will carry you until January 13th

After that I'll will flight to Vietnam for two weeks, should I get another 60 days exempt on my way back to Thailand?

*** January 13 plus 14 days, this would mean a re-entry date on January 27. You get stamped in for another 60 days, until March 25.

So far, absolutely possible!

“And if my flight back home will be the 13 April 2026, do you guys think I can have another 30 extension? “

*** That’s where a few hurdles might come into play that might be considered:

*** FIRST HURDLE: the airline you leave Vietnam on January 27 on the way back to Thailand will most obviously require an onward travel proof – a REAL flight ticket! -within the first 60 days you will get stamped in!

And even Immigration, at this point, CAN request the proof of onward travel out of Thailand (plus 20,000 THB cash and proof of accommodation)

*** SECOND HURDLE: it is absolutely not foreseeable if you will be granted another 30 days extension

BECAUSE within a rolling one-year period, you can have only two extensions on visa exempt entries – based on many reports we received - first for 30 days and the second one for only 7 days (or maybe not even those 7 days extension at all, which was reported, too!)

***you are playing with your odds. No “real” tourist is staying in holiday from October 16 thru April 13. Which amounts to 177 consecutive days away from the home country . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . WHY didn't you buy a multi entry 6-months Tourist Visa for your intended holiday?rts we received -

You should be fine with your extension on your current exemption stamp (it really does depend on the immigration office though as some have their own rules). I’ve had pretty much the same pattern of travel and was given mine on this year, rolling into next.

As others have said. Do have an onward ticket out of Thailand to show IO when you’re re-entering, with accommodation booked, an itinerary, and POF. You will more then likely be allowed entry providing you have all of the above, but may be warned to get a visa next time. I’m in the same situation as I left the UK for Australia before the enforcement changed this year, so left me with difficulty in applying for a visa and I already had all my flights and accommodation booked.

Best of luck 🤞

. . the only solution: Remain in Vietnam or any place else outside of Thailand for 30 more added days, not only for 14 days, then your return ticket on April 13 will be considered proof of onward travel within 60 days, and no extension needed . . you could visit the Philippines, Penang Malaysia, Indonesia. Or KEP in Cambodia which is said to be a very nice beach location . . . . . . just remain outside of Thailand for a minimum of 44-46 days

tomorrow I'll go to the immigration for the extension, and with the most humble attitude that I can have I'll ask what will be the best things to do for not having or creating problems.

U r right I may stay a month in Vietnam, will probably be the easiest solution, and next season I'll come back with a multi entry visa.

Thanks for your advice, I'll post tomorrow what I'll be told by the immigration.

@Pasquale ******
we have a problem - just a quick note: An Immigration officer sitting inside an office somewhere in Thailand cannot foresee the decision of his colleague who is sitting in a booth at the border. Here we have the same problem: It is up to the inividual decision of the officer at the border. Many times, what an officer inside Thailand says or claims to know, is not the same what an officer at the border will do 😑

you are Right I should have had a multi entry visa, but i dis not expecting this new rules....
Greg ***********
@Pasquale ******
I suggest, after 14 days in Vietnam, move southward and cross the border to Cambodia en route to Kep. Stay in Kep on the beach for one month and FLY back to Thailand from Phnom Penh or from Ho Chi Minh Vietnam
Greg ***********
@Pasquale ******
yeah, the new aproach on existing rules got published before you set out
Ian **********
With your itinerary you should have bought a multi entry tourist visa (METV)
Chun ****
Depends on the immigration officer
Tony **********
Why not just get a tourist visa while you're out of country. Will certainly reduce the risk.
NeL *****
Do you meant, apply for the multi entry Thailand visa?
Ian ********
It’s interesting how we define what a tourist is ?
Greg ***********
@Ian *******
yeah, planned 177 days outside his home country is a loooong holiday for a tourist but why not? He had the chance but missed to buy a 6-months multi entry Tourist Visa for this extended holiday
Ian ********
@Greg **********
we are all just visitors here as the rules could change at any time and we could all be made to leave to make way for the Chinese and Indians .I see nothing wrong if someone has the time and money for them to come here as long as they want they are not doing anyone any harm
Greg ***********
@Ian *******
then he should get the proper visa that fits his purpose. The 6-months METV (180 days!) can be applied for in his home country and requires only 20,000 THB equivalent in his home bank account for 3 months
Michael ********
Dont see an issue
Braulio *********
Sounds like the OP might be pushing his luck and should consider a visa. Does a genuine tourist spend months and months on vacation?. It will be interesting to see how it plays our for him.
Kris *****
@Braulio ********
Of course, if he is really a genuine tourist, he will organize more and more months for vacation 😀. Nowadays is very easy.
Greg ***********
@Braulio ********
yep, you are right. I counted 177 days out of his home country. Especially the last extension from March thru April will probably get denied, however nobody can say for sure. It depends on the consideration of the Immigration officer
Alan ********
I should think so, especially as you have flight out booked. You may be questioned you may not, who knows! You come across as a genuine tourist.
