I’ve seen comments on here suggesting you can share your intended flight and hotel but not sure what you would then upload on this page? Has anyone gone through this?

You can take a screen shot of your intended accommodation and flight ! No need to book !

you CAN get a tourist visa atm, depending on what country you are in. I am about to book flights and Q hotel today, from Vientiane Laos...good luckFabe ******

Note, someone said they got an email from the London embassy last week stating they needed to pay for the flight and hotel before they'd issue the visa. This however is inconsistent with emails and reports from other embassies. I would submit the documents without paying first, then if they don't accept them pay for your flight and hotel and resubmit them.

Book a flight and hotel online, but don't pay for it. Get to the confirmation page before you pay and screenshot it or print is as a PDF. Upload that.
