In case anyone was wondering, Bali is still the easiest and quickest place to get a single entry tourist visa. No queue, and even though there are official holidays starting tomorrow, they let me drop off the application and told me to come back on Thursday to pick it up.

Side note: I’m pretty sure they won’t be accepting applications the rest of the week, if anyone was thinking of coming this week.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Bali continues to be a convenient option for obtaining a single entry tourist visa, with no waiting times and the ability to drop off applications even during holiday periods. However, it's noted that applications may not be accepted later in the week due to official holidays. Additional comments highlight the requirements for proof of funds and onward travel, with a note that Laos may be an exception.

Proof of funds and onward travel. I think Laos is the only embassy around here that doesn’t require those.

Hi
@Fr***
, did you need to show anything like an onward ticket or proof of funds/accommodation at the Bali consulate?

Flights are expensive though to Bali

Cheap flights are only available from Kuala Lumpur, not only to Bali. Check with skyscanner flights from BKK and KUL. Happy I live in south of amazing Thailand. Can easy take a comfortable "high speed train" from Padang Besar to KUL - 5 hr trip

If you fly from Bangkok quite expensive. As I live in south I fly from Kuala Lumpur. I fly regularly and average return ticket is MYR 240 (~2400 THB). Malindo air have full service (30kg luggage, meals, entertainment screen in every seat). Depart from KLIA main terminal and not from Air Asia cattle terminal

If you plan it right, it can be as low as 240 USD round trip. That’s more than Phnom Phen or KL, but well... Bali. Add in no queue at the embassy to beaches and great food, and it really can be a bargain. Not for every visa run, but as a treat now and again. 🙂
