TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on options to remain in Thailand after their work visa expires in December, inquiring about the possibility of transferring to an educational or tourist visa. Comments highlight the importance of checking the current visa status, potential consequences of overstaying, and the need for support from an educational institution for a visa change.

I guess you do not have a work visa.

But you have a stamp in your passport with in the second line: Extension of Stay is permitted up to xx/xx/xx

This stamp has to be cancelled on the last day of working, same as your work permit.

At that moment you have to apply for a new Extension of Stay, but you need to meet the requirements.

You can not apply based on tourisme as you are not a tourist, for Education you need back up from a school.

You cannot get any tourist visa, extension, or status inside-country from a Non-immigrant visa/extension except Elite visa/extension. I doubt you can go to extension based on studying from extension based on employment directly such easily. But you may need to talk to your school about if you can change your reason for extension from employment to studying with help from the school.

Hello, I am in a similar situation but with a non o for volunteering. Is there no way to just switch to a tourist visa at the immigration office? I also don't have to do this till December so maybe leaving the country and coming back in will be an option but otherwise what are the options? Do the work permit/visa need to be canceled?

Nono Im a proper volunteer. I could ask my organization to continue to sponsor me as I do work online for them but I feel like I'm putting them in an awkward position this way. It would be better I think if I could just switch to a tourist visa.

In that case, make your own post, and include your nationality, when your one year extension of stay based on volunteering expires, and the immigration office you're planning on using. And please don't hijack 2 week old posts. Thank you.

And as this is the last days of August...

Check back closer to December for the available options to stay.

However if you have already finished working you may now be on OVERSTAY if you have not notified Thai immigration and the labor ministry that you are no longer working.

Suggest you review your current situation ASAP PLEASE.

You say your work visa ends in December... Have you already stopped working?
