Need some info on doing a border run for a new entry stamp. We are planning on flying. Which country is the best to fly to with an SA passport? Also, which is the cheapest? And is it as simple as landing, staying 2 nights and then returning to Bangkok? Would we need proof anywhere of funds as we dont have a Thai bank account. Have proof of SA bank account. Also, i have a new tourist visa single entry. Can i travel and re-enter Thailand with no issues? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on performing a border run from Thailand to obtain a new entry stamp, inquiring specifically about the best and cheapest countries to fly to using a South African passport. They plan to stay for two nights and wish to know if they'll need to provide proof of funds despite not having a Thai bank account, as well as if they can return to Thailand without issues given that they hold a single-entry tourist visa. Several commenters emphasize the importance of having cash available for proof of funds when entering Thailand, and some suggest verifying details online regarding flight options, while also questioning the need for a border run given the user's current visa status.

, as mentioned where to fly to and which is the cheapest are questions to be asked on other pages or using Google. This page is for Thai visa advice.

When you're asked for proof of funds when flying IN to thailand you can ONLY show CASH, not a bank account. So I'd make sure that you have 20K baht or the equivalent in cash when you bounce out and in.

and where should we fly to? Any advice on that?

If all you're wanting to do is bounce out and back in by air (FAR more risky than doing a land crossing as far as qetting questioned) that's a job for Google :/

Depending on how far out you buy your tickets, what day you're going, IF you get into the other country without needing a visa, etc.

You could be asked for proof of 20K baht or the equivalent in cash, proof of onward travel, and proof of a hotel booking or confirmed lodging when you stamp in OR you might not be asked anything.

, anyone can be asked for those things when entering thailand, it doesn't matter how long you've been out of the country. Those things are rules that can be enforced any time an immigration officer wants to

but then we might need proof of accommodation/onward travel?

IF all you're doing is bouncing out and back in there is no amount of time you need to stay out of thailand. I've known people who have flew to KL in the morning and right back to Bangkok on the next flight.

Ok, why are you doing border run IF you have a new tourist visa entry?
