What options do I have for visa extension in Thailand to stay for my father-in-law's surgery?

Hi all, looking for advice and similar experiences about this:

My father in law in Bangkok is getting a heart surgery next wednesday, the same day i fly back to Spain.

I want to stay with him and my mate but this time I came with no visa and I already used the extension.

I know that there is a visa extension for medical reasons, but we are not married, so I cannot ask for it as a relative.

- Can anyone suggest a course of action? I have only 3 days.

- Is there an inmigration office where i can ask for advise?

I would not mind to leave the country and enter again, but quarantine makes it useless.

Thank you for your time to read this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on visa options to remain in Thailand for their father-in-law's heart surgery while having no visa currently and facing tight timelines. They mention the possibility of a medical-related visa extension but are unsure due to their marital status. A commenter suggests applying for a 60-day COVID extension at the local immigration office.

You could apply for a 60 day covid extension. Go to your immigration office and apply for that for 1900baht.

is it always a 60 day extension now or is it depending from the country you are (like on my case Germany)... I would come with tourist visa 60 days (or 45 days without visa)... Any recommendation on that? 🙂

@Albert *******
you would get a 30 day extension from a 45 day visa exempt entry stamp. THEN if the covid extension program is still running you could apply for the 60 day covid extension

Thank you very much. The paper requirements to apply for it are the same everywhere? I saw in this forum the pic attached but it belongs to another province, not Bangkok. On Inmigration website I cannot find any info.

that appears to be the same requirements as Bangkok. The “notification of residency “ is the TM30

I made a new post with new questions. Will copy it here in case is more useful: - Does anybody know where to apply for Covid extension in Bangkok: Changwatana or Muang Tong Tani? - Where to download number 2 and 3 in the list? I cannot find them anywhere.

you’d go to Muang Thong Thani immigration office since you entered on a visa exempt. The forms FOR BANGKOK ONLY are found on the files section of this group. 🙂
