Hi,

Hoping to get some advice on medical extension.

Particularly before I make the trip to immigration office, as I'm not physically mobile due to my injury

I arrived on 60 day tourist visa. Had a serious accident. Treating hospital has given me a certificate as I'm not medically fit to fly. Couple of questions:

1)Does anyone know what other paperwork I need i.e photos, proof of address etc

2) is the extension a set length of time like 30,60,90 day, or is it the length written on the medical certficate.

3)After the medical extension expires. If I would like to stay (try to have the holiday I planned before my accident) would still be able to apply for my 30 day tourist extension or maybe covid extension.

Thanks for any tips in advance.

Two revisit this post and share information for prosperity.

Question 2 - length of time is based on the length written on medical cert, it's not a set interval of 30,60,90

Question 3 - Once your onto medical can't use tourist visa. However covid extension may be possible (just waiting on confirmation)

At the end of the day either you yourself or someone in your name has to go to the nearest immigration office and ask those questions because every immigration office has unfortunately different rules and asks for different documents.

Number 2 normally comes in 30 day extension although it is up to IO depending on your medical certificate.

One would think the medical extension will take over from your tourist visa hence I would think nope to getting the tourist visa extension as you would no longer be on the tourist visa but here on the medical extension. Be interesting to know though how immigration see it.

Hope all goes well for your treatment

I don’t know what hospital you’re in but contact a tourist friendly hospital (bumrungrad, BNH, Bangkok Hospital) and ask the customer service desk about medical extensions see if you can obtain some good info from them, or if they will help you out in anyway (it might cost you some money if you’re not a patient there so be prepared)

I'm being treated at Bangkok hospital and I did ask. They said you need to speak to immigration specialist as they only provide the medical cert and can't answer the questions 2-3 I outlined above. I'm not against cost, as travel insurance is covering it but again I've got no idea who is reputable on such a niche scenario
