TLDR : Answer Summary
The Special Tourist Visa (STV) scheme in Thailand is set to finish on 30 September 2022. Currently, no new applications are being accepted as per the information shared in the community. However, there is speculation about a possible extension, as the last year's extension was announced on 28 September. For those looking for alternatives, it's suggested to consider the multi-entry tourist visa, which may offer up to nine months of stay with a couple of border hops, although the requirements, including insurance costs, can be quite high.

I’ve just got one for Tuesday, can’t imagine they will stop it as they are encouraging tourism. 🤞

As an alternative to consider is the multi entry tourist visa which can get you almost 9 months if worked right but with 2 boarder hops. I did STV this year and the requirements were very high including the insurance cost which was more than what a couple of border flight hops would cost.
