What are the best visa options for relocating to Thailand with a partner and dog?

Hi everyone, hoping for some advice. I’m looking to relocate to Thailand with my partner and our dog early 2022 (from Australia). We will quarantine in Bangkok for 10 days before settling in Phuket. My father normally lives in Chonburi and will be applying for a retirement visa.

I understand that the special tourist visa cannot be converted to another visa type without leaving the country is that right?

I am thinking a non immigrant education visa may be our best option but open to suggestions given our intent is to live in Thailand long term? Also we would love any recommendations on visa agents & study options such as schools to learn Thai language too.

Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on relocating to Thailand with their partner and dog, exploring visa options suitable for long-term stay. They inquire specifically about the conversion restrictions of the Special Tourist Visa and express interest in a Non-Immigrant Education Visa while also considering their father's application for a retirement visa. Community responses suggest various visa options and the importance of vaccination prior to travel. Users share their experiences and offer contact connections for a Non-B visa, which allows freelancing without leaving the country for extensions.

Hi, the above plan does not allow u to “relocate” in thai long term. A Non-b visa allows u to live n work (freelance) in thai wo leaving e country for extension. I have a legit contact to provide Non-b, feel free to DM if keen…

would love to get more information about this.

Rebecca Blake I am in same situation and already in Thailand with visa extension , will be going to immigration to extend 30 more days then a 60 day covid extension. During these days, I’m looking for the right visa that fits me best, I’d be living off my savings but dont mind working as I don’t mind the extra money. Volunteer visa and Ed visa would be easy as you can find companies that will help you for a price and give you your freedom.

Ensure you are fully vaxxed before you come. Moving around Thailand in the future is going to be difficult and expensive if you need continual tests. There are also rumours (probably not totally unfounded) that future visa extensions will require vaccines. You may already be vaccinated, but if not the process in Australia is much easier than Thailand

It's true that either a vaccine or test will be and is already needed for many things. It's no big deal, if you choose to be unvaxinated a test will cost you a couple of hundred baht

Stuart Hamilton. Thank you for confirming what I was saying! 👍

Well if you that triggered go ahead😅

Max Martin. You are a troll with a fake profile. You are the one who is triggered and very butthurt. I made a statement and you won't let go.

she clearly understands the entry requirements, she is asking about something which is a grey area (some people have successfully converted STVs to other visas despite it not meant to be allowed) but you only answered her question with useless unfounded speculation which is off topic
Bobby ********
Max Martin. And of course you're carrying on like an old dame. Let it go man. I apologise for causing you so much anxiety
Bobby ********
Max Martin. I just don't see what your objective is to carry on like an old dame. LET IT GO

@Bobby *******
I just see you regularly posting these rumours which have no basis in reality, I just wonder why you do it

sadly or not so sadly depending on how you look at it, I’m only 30 so no retirement visa for me ☹️

Hmm 🤔 thank you! That’s what I was worried about. We were not planning on working as we will have savings to support us however we would be willing to consider getting a business to sponsor us or something to extend our stay if that’s an option

@Rebecca ******
It's going to be difficult to stay long term. Probably just come on a regular 60+30 tourist visa and look to get an Education visa after you arrive. Are you planning on working?
