Is it possible to extend the Special Tourist Visa (STV) early in Thailand?

Hi all,

Looking for some advice regarding the STV.

I entered Thailand on the 9th of April.

I will be required to extend by the 8th of July and then by the 6th of October.

However, I am aware that it is not possible to extend the STV after the 31st of September.

My question is, is it possible to extend early? (i.e. before the 8th of July and subsequently before the 6th of October.) Perhaps a 3/4 days each time?

If anyone has successfully extended their STV early please let me know :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query revolves around the possibility of early extensions for the Special Tourist Visa (STV) before the required extension dates of July 8th and October 6th. Responses indicate that most immigration offices typically allow extensions to be applied for when 30 or 45 days remain on the current visa. As such, the individual may not be able to extend early as they wish, particularly concerning the limitations for the STV after September 30th.

Not possible according to the fineprint on this info:

The STV is a very strange, very poorly designed visa. I believe the timeframe a person can get an extension of stay for the STV is the same as any other extension - 30 days in advance (except some immigration offices, which are 45 days)

yes, but the last sentence on the bottom right makes me thinking - sounds like no further extension possible if your current stamp exceeds September 30th

Honestly, it can mean either one of those two ideas. I think nobody knows what it means

Definitely go for your final extension before the end of September.

, most immigration offices allow you to apply for an extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp (some offices are 45 days or less) so that's about as early as you can apply for another extension.

if you go 2 weeks before your stamp date is due, does that new renewal begin from the date you do it or start from the end of the previous stamp date. Just don't want to cut mine too short and go as close to the expire date if possible if they take the day you walk in..... Thanks in advance!

@Matt ****
they ADD the extension to your current expiration date. There is no upside to running your current stamp down to the last day . ...

thank you! That makes alot of sense. I will plant to go As soon as the 30 day countdown begins, in case of any complications. Cheers!

no one really knows HOW it will work out for STV's but it seems like people who entered before the 3 of July will be able to get their normal two 90 day extension

BUT AGAIN no one really knows

All you can do is ask when you go for your first extension what is going on with that visa type and the extensions
