Will my history of border runs affect my entry into Thailand and my chances of obtaining a DTV?

Curious on everyone’s thoughts about this.

I was in Thailand for 1 year doing the whole border run thing. This was over 3 years ago. About 2 years after I left Thailand I went I went back for 2 weeks but upon entering the IO made a scene and said, very loudly, “if don’t ever want to come back to Thailand than keep doing this”…….. I understood what she meant but I hadn’t been to Thailand in about 2 years.

I plan on visitng Thailand again in about a month for 1-2 weeks and was wondering if there are any chances I would get denied entry because of that 1 year I was in Thailand doing border runs which was now 3 years ago. By the way that last visit to Thailand I previously mentioned was a year ago.

Also would a denied entry prevent me from obtaining a DTV? I only ask because I plan on applying beginning of next year.
Answer summary
A user shares concerns about the impact of past border runs on their future entry into Thailand and application for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). They experienced a negative interaction with immigration upon their last visit, leading them to question if their history will affect their upcoming trip planned within the next month. Community suggestions include obtaining a single-entry tourist visa beforehand to mitigate risks, ensuring readiness with documentation at entry, and the observation that immigration practices have become stricter regarding travel patterns. There's speculation that while a past denied entry might complicate a DTV application, it does not directly prevent approval.

Just buy a proper visa and quit playing the system that’s why it’s tough now your history never goes away so catch a IO on a bad day denied

Swap out your passport...

Swapping out the passport is a good idea, it’s not about the system it’s about the optics, always good to chalk up a few stamps between trips to Thailand, even if the computer is glowing (and me after ten years here it is) the plethora of other stamps = genuine traveler, which it sounds like you are

Nobody can tell you.

If you go visa exempt, make sure you have your return ticket, hotel bookings, itinerary, cash. Be ready to calmly prove it's a vacation

As to the dtv, a denied entry probably wouldn't help you but there's no official rule that says it must be denied

A lot has changed in the last few years. Entry patterns that were tolerated before can get more scrutiny now, especially with repeated border runs. It’s less about the number of entries and more about whether your visa type and travel pattern make sense together. A past denied entry doesn’t automatically block a DTV, but immigration history can still be a factor during review.

I would get a tourist visa before traveling to Thailand given what happened last time.

1. I would get a single-entry tourist visa. I have had pals told they would not get in with the visa exempt and get the visa next time, and by that they mean a tourist visa.

2. I don't think you get denied entry with a tourist visa. People with your record of border bouncings, education visas have received DTVs. I would not overthink it too much. You will be fine with a qualifying application
