TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your Special Tourist Visa (STV) for another 3 months in Thailand, you typically need to present proof of where you have been staying, proof of where you will stay for the next 90 days, your ASQ paperwork, and proof of insurance coverage for the additional 90 days. However, be aware that some discussions suggest that the STV may not be extendable.

From what I understand you can not extend the STV.

The STV Special Tourist Visa,.. first time with Visa 90 days, 1st Extension 90 more days for 1,900. 2nd Extension - 90 more days for 1,900 Baht. Total 270 days.

Thanks Joe. I thought I had read that in one of the forums. Maybe they meant after the 270 days.

No not after either. You have to leave Thailand to change to another visa type and go through what ever barriers and hurdles that are still in place

I called before my appointment to check requirements and was told:

- passport 🙄

- passport copy

- visa copy

- Departure card copy

- 6x4cm visa photo

- T8 form

- COVID insurance to cover extension period

- ASQ certificate

- cash

After arriving at appointment they decided to add:

- Receipt from hotel showing payment of ASQ

- general medical insurance for duration of extension

- apartment lease

- ID card copy of landlord

After returning 2 days later, I was told the lease and ID card were no good because the person signing the lease isn’t the same as person on ID card (it’s a family business); and lease was signed in 2018 and states its for 1 year (attempts to explain it extends automatically each year failed despite the fact the landlord’s receipt for the 2 month deposit are attached to the lease).

do you know if the insurance can be international or only from Thai companies? Thanks

@Adrià *******
as long as it's the correct coverage it doesn't have to be thru a thai company.

I checked with the Thai Embassy of Madrid and they told me "No, for the visa you need to get only the insurances of the list" and all are from Thailand... I'm afraid if they denies the visa.
