Hi Guys, just wanted to say thank you for all the efforts and advice that has been given in this group. It has been really helpful!

I have been through previous posts and answers and have come to the following possible options for staying on a Non-O visa based on Marriage, however there does seem to be some subtle nuances that I have not quite grasped, such as money seasoning times, or mandatory insurance requirements.

The following is what I have come up with, I am coming from Australia to Thailand and I am married to a Thai.

Option 1

Enter Thailand on Visa Exempt entry - 30 days

OR

Enter Thailand on Tourist Visa obtained from home country - 60 Days

Then

Apply for apply for an in-country Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai - 90 Days

Then

Create bank account and transfer in 400k from external source, allow to season for 2 months.

Then

Within 30 days of visa expiry, apply for 1-Year Extension of Stay Based on Marriage - 12 months

Option 2

Enter Thailand on Non-Immigrant O (Spouse) Visa obtained from home country - 90 Days

Then

Create bank account and transfer in 400k from external source, allow to season for 2 months (?)

Then

Within 30 days of visa expiry, apply for 1-Year Extension of Stay Based on Marriage - 12 months

If anyone can offer any constructive advice or amend any mistakes in the above I would be grateful for the assistance.

Cheers!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reviews two options for obtaining a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national, seeking clarification on nuances like money seasoning and insurance. Option 1 involves entering Thailand on a Visa Exempt entry or Tourist Visa, then applying for an in-country Non-O visa and subsequently a 1-Year Extension of Stay. Option 2 suggests entering on a Non-Immigrant O Visa from home, then transferring funds into a Thai bank. Comments recommend Option 2 as easier and stress the importance of transferring funds before applying for the visa.

Option 1: you need to transfer the money prior to applying for the 90 day in country Non-O

The process you outline for option 2 is correct. The choice of which to follow is yours

heed John's sage warning because you have your wires crossed on option 1

you need to get the money IN to a thai bank account in your name only BEFORE you go to the immigration office to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage, not after ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

BUT as people correctly pointed out there is no requirement that you show WHERE the funds came from, they can be from a domestic or international transfer, only that on the day you apply the balance of the bank account in your name only is at least 400K baht

Option 2 would be your easiest, (no worrying about have the correct number of days left to apply). Also, there is no requirement for the extension to show that the money came from an external source.
