I am currently on a Non Imm B extension until August 24th. I plan to cancel my Work Permit and change my reason for being in Thailand to based on marriage. I understand that as I am working here the 400K doesn't need to be sent from abroad. I have the required documents based on the document I received from my local immigration office ready. I wish to know how close to the 24th can I go? What happens next? Do I get a 6 day extension and then go back with my documents to get a one month under consideration stamp before getting the 12 month stamp? I would really appreciate some clarification for my own piece of mind. Many thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non Imm B license and wants to switch to a marriage visa. They have the necessary documents and inquire about the procedure close to the expiration date. Key takeaways include that the 400K requirement does not depend on work status when changing reasons for extension and that they must present proof that the funds have been in their account for at least two months. They will cancel their work extension and apply for the marriage extension, receiving a 30-day under consideration stamp before finalizing the one-year extension.

Make sure your 400k has been in the bank in your name for 2 months before you apply.

thank you, fortunately I prepared that in advance.

You would cancel your extension based on employment and then immediately apply for a new extension based on marriage. You will get a 30 day under consideration stamp, then when that runs down you go back and get the rest of the year extension inked into your passport.

you can go a week or so before the 24th of Aug with the documents and cancel your current extension and they will put a new stamp in your passport giving you until Aug 24th.

Then just show up on or before that date and apply for the year extension based on marriage.

doesn't make a difference that you work here or not about the origin of the 400K :O You only show that it came from abroad when you're applying for the initial 90 day Non-O VISA and you are not, you're changing the reason for your extension from employment to marriage and that doesn't require proof of origin of funds just the 2 month seasoning in a thai bank account in your name only.
