Dear All, my husband and I are out of Thailand now, we are waiting for documents from Thailand to apply first time for a working visa. Now, we are not familiar with the whole process therefore we will be greatful if you could explain the whole process to us:

1. My husband will apply for a non immigrant B visa, correct? I will accompany him on a spouse visa, non immigrant O, right? Apart from docs from Thailand, what else is required, generally, by Thai Consulates, like: marriage certificate or non-criminal record, some more? I am asking because Thai Consulate here posted an info that they can ask for any documents. So what is a general procedure?

2. After we get our visas and travel to Thailand, what are next steps for my husband to get working permit and/or working visa? We are not familiar with the whole process, could anybody explain to us, step by step? I read that we have to leave Thailand after the initial 90 days visa. Why, what for? Thank you so much. I know I am asking for a lot but there is some terms (ie extention of stay, what do one need it for? Where do one apply for it and when?) that we have no idea they exist in applying for a job and its related visa in Thailand. I believe all will be explained to us in Thailand, sort of๐Ÿ˜Š but we'd prefer to know the process from foreigners already familiar with it before we land in Thailand. I am from EU country, my husband from Russia but with a permanent stay card in EU (incl allowed to work here). We will apply for a visa in EU.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquiries about the process of applying for a Non-Immigrant B visa for their husband and a Non-Immigrant O spouse visa for themselves while currently outside Thailand. They seek clarification on required documents such as a marriage certificate and a non-criminal record, and they wish to understand the general procedure at Thai consulates in the EU. Furthermore, they request step-by-step guidance on obtaining a working permit and handling subsequent documentation once they arrive in Thailand, including the need to leave Thailand after an initial 90-day visa.

I would imagine that the company employing your husband has already applied for a work permit for him. I say that because proof you've applied for a work permit is usually required to get a Non-B visa.

You guys won't need another visa, you will get the visas you need from the thai consulate in the EU before you come here. You will apply for extensions of stays once you're here

do we need any special documents for an extension of stay that we can prepare now in EU? What I mean is, are there any special documents requested by immigration office from our countries?

wonderful news, thank you so much!

nope, you apply for the extensions of stays inside the country at the immigration office that serves the area where you live and work.

And extensions of stay can be applied for and received in Thailand? We don't need to leave Thailand after the initial 90 days?

When you enter the country on a single entry Non-Immigrant type visa you will be stamped in for 90 days, your husbands company will provide documentation so you both can apply for yearly extensions of stays at the immigration office that serves the area where you live.

I'd say your best bet is to look at the website or contact the thai consulate you're going to use for the Non-B and the Non-O visa and see what the actual requirements are for that particular consulate. Each one requires different things and there is no "one size fits all" list that works.

Once you're here you need to work closely with your husband's company because they supply documentation that gets his extension AND more documentation that gets you your extension.

@Kasmina ******
nope that's not how it works.

You're going to get the 90 day single entry Non-Immigrant visas with documentation from your husband's employer BEFORE you come here (he will get a Non-B based on work and you will get a Non-O based on being married to someone who legally works in thailand.)

Thank you so much Tod. My understanding is we get visas to enter Thailand for 90 days. After that we have to go to any Thai Consulate to apply for.. What? Another visa? At what point will my husband apply or get a work permit? Is working visa called non immigration B visa? I am so sorry to bother you with many questions. Thank you so much!
