What are the steps and requirements for my spouse to obtain a Non-Immigrant 'O' Visa while I hold a Non-O retirement visa?

My spouse needs to get a Non-Immigrant “O” Visa -- Family Members/Dependents. Attached to my Non O retirement extension which I already have.

We're both US citizens.

We've decided to fly to Penang to apply. We have the marriage certificate and our lease here in BKK.

Couple questions,

1. I need to leave the country to do this so I'll need multiple re-entry which I don't currently have. Can I get that ahead of time? Can I get that now? Is it an extra stamp in the passport? What do you recommend?

2. I think the website says there's a couple days turn around for the dependent Non-O. Has anyone experienced this before? We're planning on staying there a week just in case.

Requirements emailed to us from the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Penang:

They did ask for last 12 months of my bank statements. Fortunately I was able to print from iPad at printer across the street. No appointments, so arrive early and wait in line. They only take a specific number of appointments each day. We received hers the next day.

You can get the re-entry permit now from your immigration office or you can wait and get it at the airport. Just make sure you don't forget. Prices are 200₿ higher at the airport since they do all the forms and take the photo for you.

Thank you. Did they ask for anything special with the marriage certificate or just the marriage certificate? Like didn't need to be endorsed by the embassy or anything like that?

Our marriage certificate is from Myanmar so we had an English translation which was notarized by a Myanmar notary. We did not have a Thai translation. US Citizens Services will no longer authenticate documents (check to be sure) but if I were you, I would have a Thai translation that is authenticated. Someone on here will know how to do that. As long as you have as much of the list you posted as you can and anything else you have, you should be OK. You are only looking to get the 3 month visa first so you can come back to your home immigration office apply for the extension. We hired an agent for that part and we are doing that now.

We just got my wife a non-O visa in Yangon. We had all the documents and then some. It was ready on the second day. Good luck!

@J*
, We worked from this list. It's from the Thai Embassy in Phenom Penh because the Thai Embassy Yangon did not have a list. We didn't have everything but we had more in some cases. We had no problem with the visa. Working now on the extension with an agent, which I highly recommend.
