Going to Vientiane for a few days crossing at friendship bridge. Is that check point open every day now? Will they give 30 day tourist visa (UK passport)?

Leaving on a Non B visa which is being cancelled and returning as tourist.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Friendship Bridge checkpoint is currently reported to be open every day. For UK passport holders, there is no 30-day tourist visa; instead, tourists can receive a visa exemption for 45 days when crossing at the border. A typical tourist visa obtained at an embassy is valid for 60 days.

, sort of. I’ve done it a few times. I’ve given my passport to a Thai taxi driver/ fixer and they have bypassed the queue and gone over the bridge and back in minutes. Whether that’s possible now, I don’t know. I don’t live in Thailand now so only visiting.

There's no such thing as a 30 day tourist visa. A tourist visa is for 60 days and you apply for it at an embassy.

There is visa exempt which is temporarily increased to 45 days that you can get at the border.
