First week of August I will go to Ventianne to apply for SETV. I am on my last land based Tourist exempt. From my understanding of going through search here, I don't need to jump through many hoops in Ventianne. Just Passport, application and fee. Is true? Anything else required. I am skipping Siem Reap\PP agencies since recommendations are against since it is required to show bank money etc. Thanks everyone. I just want to get my ducks in a row and make sure I have all that is required.

Is 2 or 3 days recommended to stay in Ventianne? Is not a problem if needed. I would assume get to embassy as early as possible. JB

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Thai Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) in Vientiane, you need to bring your passport, a completed application form, two passport-sized photos, and the visa fee. It's recommended to lodge your application in the morning and you may pick it up on the afternoon of the following business day. Staying 2 or 3 days in Vientiane is advisable to accommodate this process, with Monday and Thursday being busy days at the embassy.

Ohhh if you don’t care about time...fly Thursday afternoon, lodge Friday morning, and pick up Monday afternoon...Friday is not busy as most people won’t want to wait until Monday...

Tuesday is also another good day to lodge...not as busy...I got there last week 7.30am and only 20 people in front of me...waited 30 minutes to lodge after opening, and less than 10 minutes to collect

Avoid Monday’s and Thursday as this is when most agencies take groups

Copy of passport (photo page, Laos VOA and arrival stamp) + application form + 2 passport photos + fee

Nothing else

Lodge in the morning, pick up in the afternoon following business day...don’t forget or they cancel visa

Jackie Blue as I said you can use USD and THB in most places...I used THB everywhere

They usually give change in Kip though...just make sure the exchange rate is close...I checked every time I purchased...and only one place tried to rip me off

But I can use THB in Laos, correct?

Jackie Blue you can pay by USD, THB or KIP at most places...I just used THB everywhere I went.

Remember you can’t exchange Laos Kip outside Laos

You will find most tuk tuks and taxis offer set prices around Vientiane, but always negotiate...usually get around 40% or more off what they quote

Not to worry. I know about officials a bit since been here since Jan. Don't give them anything to be concerned about. Got it. I already have passport photos and always take plenty of money with me. Think I might take 3 days since I might like to hang for a bit. Maybe longer. Thanks very much, again.

Flying or by land? Take clean US$ for the Lao visa, it's cheaper than paying with Baht.

Make sure you check your Laos Visa requirements to enter the country...for Aussies it’s 30 USD and 1 passport photo

Crisp clean notes to be safe

Make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing, they are very strict - if you are wearing singlet or short shorts they will NOT take your application

I saw 2 people turned away last week

1,000 Baht

@Jackie *****
you have to collect next business day anyway...so it’s only 24 hour process

Personal choice if you want to stay longer or not

Glen, would you have an idea how much is the 60 day (SETV) in Thai Embassy in Ventianne?

Thanks Glen. Would it be better to stay more than a few days. This is not a problem. I don't want to be rushed and I will probably have to arrange transport, so time is not an issue.
