I recall in 05, Pound was 75. and US was about 43.

Our currencies were worth twice, and groceries and service's were 60% cheaper .

Nope, GBP still weak compared to baht and other performing currencies, still long way to go to reach at least 2015 exchange rate!

Pound may strengthen more next few weeks, UK is expected to raise interest rates another .25% on 22nd June.
