TLDR : Answer Summary
The current exchange rate for Euro (EUR) to Thai Baht (THB) is being experienced around 38.15 THB per Euro according to various users. Several commenters suggest using the SuperrichTH app for real-time updates on exchange rates at street kiosks, with recommendations to avoid exchanging cash at the airport concourse. For money transfers, services like Wise are discussed, highlighting its competitive rates compared to other exchange options.

Thanks much again to all who replied. I've installed the Superrich app and will keep an eye on things.

Thailand, here we come (tomorrow!) for the first time.

when you arrive at the Suvarnabhumi Airport, do NEVER exchange any cash in the concourse or in the upper levels. Wait until you have passed customs, then follow the signs "Airport Rail Link" downwards to the basement of the airport. Right here, across from the platform of the train to the city, there are THREE moneychanger booths. Superrich, Happyrich and Kasikorn. All three of them will offer you the best exchange rate of the whole if Thailand . . . .

the XE rate you won't get ANYWHERE in Thailand.

@Andreas ********
Really? So how am I able to get it (and often better) every month with Wise?
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
so, for a money transfer from Europe to Thailand, WISE is a very good choice and it relieves you from the burden to carry a lot of cash through the Bangkok airport and further. At private money changers on the islands you will receive a very poor rate. On the islands it is advised either to visit a bank, or if you hold a credit card which allows a free-of-fee withdrawal abroad, just draw the maximum of 20,000.- THB at an ATM. This will spread the 220.- Baht ATM fee over across a high amount. The "day spot exchange rate" of a credit card provider is indeed a VERY GOOD rate! Just be careful and do not fall for the "currency conversion" scam in case the ATM asks you if you would like to see the exchange rate on the screen and converse from your home currency. ALWAYS decline and press "NO"

@Richard *******
the exchange rate you receive in the basement of the BKK Airport at Superrich or HappyRich, ist only very marginally better than the WISE exchange rate, which in the upper example would be 38.133.- THB per 1 Euro
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
care, WISE gives you two rates: the one they apply, which is often very attractive. However in order to fairly compare to other means of exchange, their actual rate is calculated from the sum that is received. Here's an example (in Euro)

@Andreas ********
Wow, half a Baht difference! I'd better negotiate a better rate for ST then.
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
right now, you will receive a rate of 44.199 for transferring 1000 GBP with WISE to a Thai account. While the rate for - the BEST in the whole of Thailand - cash-exchange at Siam Exchange (or Superrich) is just marginally better at 44.30 THB per 1 GBP
Richard ********
Ok, well, I don't really GAF and I will continue to get the XE rate through Wise as I have been doing for over 2 years now.
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
WISE will never give you the XE rate, they will give you around 0,25 Baht lower a rate
Richard ********
@Andreas ********
I've told you Wise frequently gives me the same or sometimes better rate

and
@Andreas ********
Can you advise if you find Wise better or Revolut? For me they look quite the same.
Andreas *********
@М. ***
I use WISE, they are great. Also if you need a proof that the monthly transfer comes from abroad, with WISE you choose "costs for living expenses" and it will show in your bankbook coded as an international transfer (despite WISE uses a Thai bank account for the last step)

@Andreas ********
So if i get that correct, if i transfer money from Wise to my thai bank account there wont be deducted any fees? Because revolut tax me 500 baht. And in this way i am good to go.
Andreas *********
@М. ***
WISE will deduct fees, and they are included in the amount the recipient will receive. So if you wish to compare WISE to any other exchange method, you mustn't look at the rate WISE is using (!), but at the rate which is determined from the amount the recipient is receiving
Richard ********
@М. ***
Sorry I've never used Revolut
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
depends on where your eyes look: the rate they USE is not the rate you GET
Richard ********
@Andreas ********
So you agree that it is possible to get the XE rate in Thailand despite your earlier comment.
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
understand now? WISE and Superrich offer you the best REAL rates of the whole of Thailand. The XE tool is just the Mid-market exchange rate
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
no, I cannot agree. Because as we speak, the XE rate is much higher, it is 44.444.- Baht per GBP. You won't receive this rate anywhere in Thailand 🙂 🙃
Andreas *********
@Richard *******
well but you hardly will get a better rate, even not by a foreign SWIFT transfer from your home bank to your Thai bank account. The fees are lower than the WISE fee, but their rate will not be very good compared to WISE end-user rate

Why ask an opinion app instead of a fact app?

TT exchange publish their exchange rates every morning their FB page

Download the SuperrichTH app to see instant updates on the rates you’ll likely get on the streets. Most kiosks will be pretty similar so unless you’re changing thousands of £ or $ you’ll not see any real differences.
