TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a 60-day visa on arrival in Thailand, you can take a short trip to a neighboring country and return for a new 60-day stamp. Countries like Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore offer visa-free entry for many nationalities. If traveling to Laos, the visa at the border costs around $40. Ensure to check if your passport allows visa exemption for the country you choose. It's advisable not to overstay your visa, and the method of entry (air vs. land) may affect your visa status.
You need to arrive by an international flight. If arrive overland you’ll get only 2 weeks. This was the rule sometime back and don’t know whether it’s amended now!
If your country is visa exempt, 60 days, then 30 day extension, then hop over a border somewhere and come back in, get another 60 day stamp. If you go into Laos, I believe the visa at the Laos border is now $40 USD, it used to be $30 when I used to do border bounces at Nong Khai.
All depends how long you intend staying, if only ninety days, no reason to bother doing a visa run for the sake of 1,900 baht. Probably cost you more than that in travel plus expenses.
You can go anywhere you'd like, and then return and get a new 60 day stamp. Whether the country you go to requires you to have a visa or not is better asked in a group related to that country as this is a Thailand visa group.
