Hi, I am travelling South East Asia and am currently in Laos, Iโ€™m due to arrive in Thailand in 2 weeks time, I need to stay for around 80 days, is my best option to apply for a 60 day tourist visa online and then extend when in Thailand for another 30 days? Or can I use the 30 days visa free and then get the 60 day visa whilst there?

Any help is appreciated, thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
You have two options for staying in Thailand for 80 days after arriving from Laos. First, you can apply for a 60-day tourist visa at the Thai consulate in either Savannakhet or Vientiane before entering Thailand, and then extend your stay for an additional 30 days once in Thailand. Alternatively, you can enter Thailand using a free 30-day visa exemption and then apply for a 30-day extension at an immigration office, making a total of 60 days. To reach 80 days total, you would then need to exit and re-enter Thailand to obtain another 30-day stamp.

Sadly for you ๐Ÿ˜• you can't use the eVisa online system when you're OUT of your country

So if you're in lao and you want to get a tourist visa to thailand you do that at the Savannakhet or Vientiane Thai consulate BEFORE you come here getting you stamped in for 60 days and then taking the one 30 day extension you're allowed after you're here

OR

You come in on a free 30 day entry stamp and take the one 30 day extension you're allowed at the immigration office, that gets you 60 days then you'd have to exit/re-enter to get a new 30 day stamp to hit your target stay

read the requirements, MEET the requirements, get the visa, that's how it works ๐Ÿ™‚ They are not a hard core consulate but they are no nonsense, and you meet all the requirements listed or you don't get the visa
