Hello. I would need your advice about 60-days visa.

My friend from Portugal has got a 60-days visa, and she is wondering if it is easy for her to extend for another 30 days after those 60 days is finished.

Also, if it gets extended, she would leave Thailand on the last day and travel back again in the following day, will she be in trouble of coming in within 48hrs? And is Laos the cheapest and easiest place to get out to?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, your friend can extend her 60-day visa for an additional 30 days at the immigration office for 1900 baht. She does not have to wait until the current visa is nearly expired, as the extension is added to the existing expiration date. After the extension, if she travels to another country and returns, she can apply for a 30-day visa exemption as long as she leaves Thailand. Additionally, Laos is considered one of the easiest and cheapest destinations for a quick visa run.

In Bangkok she can go for a 30 day extension when she has 45 days or less left on her current stamp

SO

if she arrived on Dec 4th she should have been stamped in until Feb 1st. And 45 days before that is today Wednesday the 18th. So she can go anytime

thank you so much Tod, that’s very helpful. Will tell her to go to immigration office at Chaeng wattanna. 😀🙏

When the extension is going to run out she can go to a border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country, turn around and stamp right back into thailand to get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

How about stating WHERE in thailand your friend from Portugal will be staying? That way we can recommend the closest and easiest border for them to bounce out and back in at...

thank you for all the information Tod! That’s very helpful.

And she arrived Thailand on the 4th DEC, she would like to know if she can go for the extension already this week as she has to make some plans.

She is staying in Sukhumvit area at the moment.

She can go to the immigration office in the area where she stays and get a 30 day extension on her 60 day tourist visa for 1900baht. There is no need to wait until her current stamp is almost running out because they ADD the 30 days to her current expiration date.
