We are so confused and lost about what to do. We have US passports. We arrived in Thailand two weeks ago today. We received a visa on arrival. And wish to stay an extra 30 to 60 days. I am unsure of what to do or how to receive a tourist visa before my next two weeks runs up

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (O/P) arrived in Thailand with a visa-exempt entry stamp, not a visa on arrival. To extend their stay, they can apply for a 30-day extension at an immigration office for a fee of 1,900 baht. They must provide necessary documents like a passport copy, a photo, and other related paperwork. This process is straightforward and can be done directly at the immigration office.

and we are done. If the O/P is unable to figure out how to get a 30 day extension on their 30 day visa exempt entry after all the help people have provided they almost don't deserve to get an extension :O

Better go to immigration office as soon as possible, There is no downside to apply early your 30days extension is added to your current stamp. You wouldn't lose any day. Just make sure you get 30days when you get your passport back.

Sam Tonga That is NOT true, when you apply for a 30 day extension it is ADDED to the current expiration date you have in your passport. Post accurate info OR don't post.

Sam Tonga incorrect.

I'm currently at immigration office in Bangkok now. Super easy to do. Fill out a form, make sure you have a copy of your passport and passport photo. You will also need a copy of your stamp in your passport and a copy of the little piece of paper you got on arrival. Pay 1900 BAHT and done.

Okay, lets get you back on track terminology wise

First if you showed up here without having BOUGHT a thai visa from a consulate before you got here and were stamped in for FREE for 30 days you did NOT get in on a visa on arrival :O You got in on waht's called a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp

You can go to the immigration office and extend that ONE TIME for 30 more days for 1900baht. THEN you have to leave the country and either come back in on a NEW 30 day visa exempt entry stamp OR go to a thai consulate in a near by country and BUY a tourist visa for thailand.

Joe Lilley not quite true. The second time you try to extend you will get an extension of stay denied stamp..you have 7 days from the time it is issued to leave. Some offices won't sell it to tourists.

you can extend 2 times but second time only for 7 days

Just so you know you BUY tourist visas from thai consulates in other countries BEFORE you come to thailand. SO once you get thru this 60 days (the 30 days you have now, and the 30 day extension you can get at the immigration office) you need to leave the country..

Just go to immigration and apply extension of stay for 30 days. Simple. More than that u can not get during normal circumstances without leaving the country. Whether can get another extension under coming extraordinary circumstances remains to be seen

Just go to immigration pay ฿1,900 and get a 30 day extension
