Will Thai consulates in Taiwan and Vietnam transition to eVisa in October, and what are the requirements for applying?

Is it correct that from next month on (October) all Thai consulates in the near countries change to evisa? I'm talking especially about Taiwan and Vietnam. I am planning to fly in October to one of them to apply for the DTV visa. 

Question, if it's all online, I still need to be in the country I apply for at

- the time I apply online?

- the time I receive the visa?

I only got one week time, so if my DTV isn't ready by then, i will be out of the country already (not in Thailand though), I will be in Malaysia after which seems the worst place to get the DTV hence the plan to stop before in either Taiwan or Vietnam.

Anyone knows more on that?

You need to be in the country of the consulate you are applying to. You don't need to be in that country to receive the e-visa. Some people don't get their visa on time and depart from the country they applied from.

I think taiwan didn't announce eVisa, and right now taipei is same day service <- you apply in the morning and go back in the afternoon to get the passport with the visa in it

I'd figure out HOW to get there and apply.

With the eVisa system you DO have to be in the country of the thai consulate you're applying thru.

Now whether you need to stay there until the visa is approved/rejected, who knows.

Anonymous participant I did not see an update on when the two consulates in Vietnam switch to eVisa

Someone reported it was mentioned in an email they'd gotten from one of them when asking a question. I have no reason to doubt it

already Malaysia and Cambodia said they would go live eVisa in Oct, those were announcements that were put out

Someone posted yesterday Taipei is now a 2 day service. I guess Taipei must have gotten busier.

Even if Thailand said it would implement new visa requirements on a certain day, never rarely actually do. Its hit or miss, mostly miss.
