Good morning - seaking advice pls

We are currently in Thailand on the educational visa which ends in around 4 months

The plan now is that my husband applies for the soft power DTV with the approved Muay Thai camp near us, once we have the enrollment form we fly to Hanoi apply for the dtv from there and once approved he then adds me and the kids as dependents

We have more than enough in the bank to show them plus we own a few properties in other countries with income monthly coming from these

My questions are -

• I am currently 4 months pregnant would this affect the DTV for adding me on?

• Is flying to Hanoi to apply from there the best idea (currently in Hua hin)

• Do we apply at the Thai embassy in Hanoi or online - which way is quickest

• Do we use an agent? Would this speed it up? It seems quite straight forward but if using an agent is more likely to get us approved then I'll do this

Any help is appreciated I'm due to give birth end of Aug with our current visa expiring end of July

So planning on going Hanoi in April - cancelling the educational visa before departing and then get all of this DTV done

Any help is appreciated as the stress is building 😢
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a DTV (soft power) visa after their current educational visa expires, while managing a pregnancy. Key points discussed include the necessity of applying at the Thai embassy in Hanoi, the separate application process for dependents, and whether using an agent could expedite the process. Responses indicate that it is best to apply online directly through the embassy and that many manage the process independently without an agent. There is also a mention of holiday closures in April which could affect application times.

No need to use an agent, all applications through embassies for visas are online worldwide. Your husband could fly out to Hanoi and apply himself and once he's been approved then you can move the family to Hanoi to apply for the dependants.

AS you both have a business I suggest to apply for purpose workcation.

you get 180 days on entry and able to extend once with 180 days.

Saves a lot of travel with the complete family and new born.

there is no way to apply in Thailand, that is one of the essential requirements that you must be outside of Thailand. What Robert is referring to is getting an in country extension after the initial 180 day entry stamp, bringing your total stay time up to 360 days before you have to depart the country and re-enter.

no all DTVs must be applied for outside Thailand. The workcation is the other branch of the DTV

You will need to apply online via the Hanoi embassy (no in person applications), so while it is online, you still need to be in Vietnam. Also, remember, April has many holidays, so embassy will be closed for those holidays, so there could be significant delays during that time. You are not “added” to his visa. Once he has his DTV, you apply separately, under the dependent category, uploading a copy of his DTV visa, and marriage certificate.

Is it ok to do ourselves or is the process quicker with an agent I'm getting mixed answers ?

- The process is the same length, if you submit everything correctly. Most people are able to do that, but for some, they are not tech savvy or want the extra assurance of someone else reviewing. I personally don’t think it is needed, but really up to you. Agents don’t have any special insider track that gets it done quicker.
