Hey guys what is the best embassy for the DTV (quickest turn around) I have the requirements. I have a condo in Thailand so I don’t want to be paying rent while I’m waiting outside the country for my visa to be accepted.

I’ve been told kuala lumpa/vietnam are a quick turn around.

Thanks in advance people 🫡🤝

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses where to get the fastest turnaround on a DTV visa. Suggestions include embassies in Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi, while users recount mixed experiences with processing times. Some report quicker turnarounds in Jakarta, while others warn against applying in places like Vientiane. There is considerable debate about whether applicants can leave the country while their DTV visa is pending, with differing rules noted across embassies. Users are urged to ensure they understand the specific requirements of the embassy they choose.

You can apply out of the country and re-enter in Thailand, then leave again to activate it once it’s approved.

@Kenan *****
not worth it, DTV's are getting cancelled at the first 90 day report by doing this now

Jakarta people speak 3 to 5days!

@Kenan *****
that’s a good option thanks

@Ben ******
it's not a good option at all

@Ben ******
not really as if checked you can/will be denied
Todd *********
@Kenan *****
you can. And you can also end up having it rejected for doing so

That’s not true, because the embassy in Kuala Lumpur itself told us that we could leave Malaysia and re-enter Thailand while waiting for the approval (which takes 5 weeks). However, the one in Paris requires us to stay in France during the process. So the rules change from one embassy to another.

@Kenan *****
did it ever occur to you that the person at te embassy misspoke or you misunderstood It is clearly stated in the guidelines to be out of the country while applying/waiting for approval for the DTV
Kenan ******
@Anna ********
No idea. I just based it on what she told me. And the dozen friends who applied for the DTV did it the same way and all of them were approved.

@Kenan *****
how about trying some coherent thinking. You tell me ‘that’s not true’. And then expand to tell me it is true lol.

What I said is precisely true. We all know the rules differ between consulates. In some nations, leaving the country (especially returning to Thailand) can result in rejection.

What I mean is that it’s not systematic! Embassies that don’t allow you to leave the country clearly state it. If there’s no specific mention, you’re allowed to do it. Out of the three embassies, only the one in Paris required us to stay.

@Kenan *****
they clearly state it where? If anyone plans on leaving the nation of application during the waiting process, absolutely get written consent to do so. Or risk denial

KL, or any of the Malaysian consulates, are difficult to deal with

I'm in Hanoi now, submitted everything on Sunday. On Tuesday they asked for my Vietnam immigration stamp page again for some reason and it's been showing as pending approval since then. I hope I get an answer by tomorrow otherwise I guess I need to wait until next week.

Participant anonyme 999 submitted in Hanoï on Sunday as well, and pending approval since Tuesday same. We’re on same boat. Let’s keep update

Anonymous participant 114 ok my friend applied in da nang it took 2 weeks to get accepted this was last week

Do I need to prove funds more than once? I’m going to cutting it fine when I arrive I’ll just have enough I really don’t want to be going back after two weeks and having re show bank statements
Anonymous ******************
@Ben ******
they will email you to confirm if they need any more documents. As far as I know it's just a waiting game.

Applied last Friday in Hanoi as well. Still pending approval. Finger crossed for you guys too

Anonymous participant 999 I submitted last Friday and praying it's approved by tomorrow. Otherwise I think there are Thai holidays Monday and Tuesday so it's gonna be next Wednesday earliest 😭

@Amber ******
I only see a public holiday for Tuesday for the queen's birthday. I assume we go by their opening hours so after 17:30, we need to wait until the next day for an update?
