I am currently in Thailand, arrived in May with a TR Visa 60+30 and using Covid amnesties.
I am going back to France for Christmas for 2 weeks and intend to come back to Thailand just after new year with a STV for 9 month.
-Can I already apply to the STV using eVisa before I "stamp out" of Thailand ?
-I would appreciate advise/cost on the long stay STV health insurance, list given on https: //longstay.tgia.org is not comprehensive
Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to apply for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) while currently in Thailand on a TR visa. They want to know if they can apply for the STV online (eVisa) before departing for France for Christmas. One commenter highlights uncertainty in the process since the STV application requirements include submitting past passport stamps, which could lead to potential issues if not met properly. They advise to try applying and report back on the experience for future reference.
I don't know the answer to your insurance question, but (and this still isn't an answer) as far applying for your new e-visa before you leave, the answer is we don't know. The system is too new and no one has tried (or at least not reported back here if they did) yet. In theory it should be possible, but you are also required to send all of the stamps in your passport from the last 12 months as part of your application, so theoretically they could question it or deny it if they aren't happy about it. The only way to know at this point is to try, and if you do decide to try, please report back to us so we know for others.
