Is it safe to use an agency to apply for a DTV visa in Thailand?

Did anyone used an agency in Thailand to apply for DTV? They technically offering me to do the evisa application for me, and when I get it, I just go out and come back in, but I don't understand why wouldn't I able to fo that? I know the risk of not having my homecountry stamp in the passport etc, but a part of them, why would they assure that they can get it this way?

Experience or opinion on this?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns about using an agency in Thailand to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). The user is skeptical about the agency's promise to handle the eVisa application and highlights the risks of not having a home country stamp. Comments from the community emphasize that applying for the visa can be done independently through the Thai eVisa website, express doubts about the agency's legitimacy, and warn against potential scams involving fabricating documents. Overall, there is a strong recommendation to proceed cautiously when considering such agencies.

This doesn’t make sense. There’s nothing for them to help you with, unless they are gonna make you a fake bank statement with 500k in the bank or actually get you a remote job lol but I guess if you are going that sketchy fake everything route then ok.. lol

The application and stuff you need is straight forward. Unless you are illiterate or something, there’s no service for them to provide

some agents will create your portfolio by collecting the company documents and even write your cover letter to explain your situation. Of course, the letter is signed by the applicant.

and when the fake documents are discovered and you get a 10 year ban then what?

I’m not asking you to get agents. I am even telling you to be hesitant when it is too good to be true.

I do not need to be hesitant. I have had a number of different visas here including the BOI Executive. I know how this works. This is not my first rodeo. How long have you been in Thailand?

What’s your point? Why are you tagging me? I already replied to the anonymous poster that he should be careful with agents.

You don't get a stamp from your home country anymore anyway if you're from any western country.
Rex ******
If the agency is offering you to do your evisa while you are in Thailand, pretending that you are in your home country, then they are schemers. Scam alert.
RM *****
do it yourself, it just need to upload your doc on thai e visa website and pay with your credit.

yes but I don't want to get denied from it because I am not at home. Rather would apply in a neighbour country

Anonymous participant Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia let you apply as a non-resident.

thank you!

The agents can not easily bribe officials in any Thai embassy, so they can not do anything with DTV.

@Henrik ****
They can actually. Some consulates are notorious for having agent connections. You're quite naive.

@Henrik ****
One agent was hinting very strongly, well not even a hint, that they are working with Embassy staff in a neighbouring country. I would assume it was with a local hire and not MFA careerists.

What is the service the agency is actually offering? How to fill in the application online? Am I missing something?

@Greg *******
uploading the right docs and answering the questions properly

OK - so the agent knows the requirements for every single embassy or Consulate globally? - many have different requirements. They are not exactly complex either - just different.
Rex ******
@Greg *******
Yes, they may have submitted a lot of applications. Evisa in China is a bit different than US for example. In the US you chose the consulate based on your address and in China, you choose the consulate based on the place of issue of your passport. But I’ll be hesitant to hire an agent who suggests to apply for evisa while in Thailand.

@Rex *****
I am not buying it. How many agents have submitted applications for the DTV - define "A lot". Nope - not buying it

yes I am very hesitant too, that's why I wanted to inquire, because doesn't seem to be worth it. I could e-visa presented to be somewhere else I guess but also don't want to risk

Anonymous participant Do a bit of research, compare the requirements and go for the one with the lowest barriers to entry. I just cannot see the value add of the agents unless they are putting the 500k in the banks etc where the applicant does not meet requirements

no they asked my Nationality to confirm whether they can help or not, but I don't have residence proof of my country anyway so ...dead plan. 😆

getting accepted I guess

Anonymous participant How can they possibly offer that at the dozens of Embassies or Consulates around the world? At this time I would be wary of agents offerings. Some are offering 100% is embassies close to Thailand then just recently there have been reports of refusals at same embassy. Agents in Thailand usually have a close working relationship with a single immigration office.
