Hey,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a health insurance cover for expats that will take me with pre existing medical conditions please?

I'm not worried that they won't cover those conditions, but im looking for cover for accidents, cancer, stroke, heart attack etc.

I'm currently in the UK but after 25 years here with my Thai missus, we've decided its almost time to retire back to Thailand. I'm 49 and she's 53. Plan is to make the move next year when I hit the big 50. But unless I can get cover im quite concerned about not having insurance in place in case the worst happens.

I have spoken to one chap, but he said I was unisurable, but im hoping that isn't the case.

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in the UK looking to retire in Thailand is seeking health insurance that covers pre-existing conditions, particularly for serious medical events like accidents or diseases such as cancer or heart attacks. Community members suggest several insurance companies, including Allianz Global, AiA, Cigna Global, and Now Health International, which offer various levels of coverage for pre-existing conditions. The importance of obtaining insurance before reaching a certain age is emphasized, as well as the idea of working with specialized expat insurance brokers for tailored advice and support.

I was recently conversing via email with a company who told me they would cover my pre-existing condition and after telling them, they sent me a quote which I was happy with and on my return to Thailand (which I am not sure when that will be as I plan to relocate rather than take long breaks there) I will contact them to make an appointment at their office in Bang Saray. They have offices in Hua Hin and Phuket also

I can give you his email address via PM if you like?

I think the most important part of any insurance is being confident they will pay out rather than whether they cover you or not! Obviously they need to cover you for you to tke the policy out but I mean out of those that WILL cover you, its then wise to figure out which ones you trust to come good should the worst happen ๐Ÿ™‚

Cigna Global. Probably one of the best expat insurances you can get. Accepts pre existing. And the hospitals love it

Depends on how long you plan to stay out of your home country. If you're moving abroad semi-permanently/permanently, you'll want comprehensive international health insurance. You'll need the better benefits like cancer treatment and coverage for preexisting conditions as you get older.

You'll need to get on a plan before you get too old. Once you are insured, you can stay insured for life. But if you wait until you're older then you may not get accepted.

I use this company for my comprehensive international health insurance. They are founded by expats and focus on expats. They work with something like 50+ different insurers, so they'll always find you the best value policy with a reputable insurer that fits your budget. I found a UK plan from HCI the best value.

You will not find any insurer that will cover pre existing conditions. Good health insurance is not cheap. Expect to pay ยฃ2000 - ยฃ5000 per year depending on age.
