TLDR : Answer Summary

Most comments indicate that the Non-O visa does not require health insurance, though if applying for an OA visa, insurance is needed. Various users share experiences and advice regarding difficulties in obtaining insurance with pre-existing conditions, suggesting contacting agents or specific providers like WRLife and emphasizing the necessity of a financial cushion to cover potential health expenses.

99 % of insurance companies will not pay claims if they blame existing conditions which they always do

Anything related to your heart will be a problem if you need a hospital or surgery

Put a decent amount of cash aside and pay your health bills yourself

At 67 any decent policy will start at 125,000 bhat a year .

Insurance salespeople are only there for commission

Try WRLife. Ask for a quotation. They take you even with preconditions. I think around 200 Euro/month.👍👍👍

My health insurance (with pre existing conditions not included) cost me a little over 4k pm, I'm 64 and fully recovered from a stroke 9yrs ago, given that anything remotely connected (vascular, heart, even kidneys) is not included I'm seriously considering seeing the year out and going without, I'll put the premiums in MY own account and have a balance free credit card + my nest egg, many will no doubt say I'm crazy but I have not intention to going back to UK dead or alive.

Most likely you won't get insurance with your age and pre-existing if your getting a retirement visa in Thailand. Have a nest egg available should something come up.

None of them cover ANY pre existing conditions, at any price. My experience with health insurance in Thailand is poor.

you will not be applying for a Visa in Thailand.

Only the extensions of the Non-o you enter on.

no Insurance required.

Very difficult to get insurance with pre-existing conditions, it will likely be very expensive or not cover the conditions

You don’t need insurance for Non O. Just get the cover you require from your local insurer, much cheaper and will have the same cover.

If you are going for a Non O/A, it’s a different matter…

That is a complicated situation. its is against the group rules to solicit services. My advice would be to contact an agent as all cases are person specific.

Non O doesn't require insurance, just proof of funds.

If you are applying in your own country and want an OA then you need the approved insurance

There is no mandatory insurance required for a Non-O so you are free to select whatever suits your needs not one of the prescribed policies as required for a Non-OA

okay so what you are actually saying:

Non-o 90 day visa based on retirement

Then will apply for a 1yr extension of that visa

No insurance required.

A 1yr retirement visa is an OA that requires health insurance but must be obtained outside of Thailand.

What visa are you applying for? Or what extension are you applying for? Most of them don't require insurance.
