TLDR : Answer Summary
Several expats living in Thailand shared their experiences with personal accident insurance, recommending options from local insurers like AIA, AXA Thailand, and others. It's advised to obtain insurance before arriving in Thailand, as local policies may have a waiting period. Some policies, like those from Bangkok Bank, cover motorcycle accidents, but have age limitations. Other expats prefer insurance from their home countries for quicker reimbursement.
I had Bangkok Bank personal accident insurance. The good thing was it covered motorcycle accidents. However, after age 65 motorcycle cover no longer applied so I discontinued it.
I always buy, from my home country. Any accident (the covered ones, not riding a bike or driving a car) is reimbursed within hours to my home country bank account.
LavenderQuail9 I see. It makes sense to buy one here. Mine allows to claim from here. On a side note, is it even possible to get a Thai insurance without having a Thai bank account?
You should get it 1month before coming here if you dont have anything from your home country or credit card company (like travel insurance), when you buy from a local company its usually 30days until you can use it so if anything happens before that, its on you
Yes I do and just claim 100% of my bills last month for my motorcycles incident in Chiang Mai ram hospital 😊 and now I also work as a AIA Thailand agent❤️ so let me know I’m you are interested, happy to share this with you ,take care❤️
