Hi 🙏

Looking for a reliable, affordable health insurance provider in Thailand for relocation (3 children ages 1–3 + one adult, 34).

Good coverage and easy claims are important. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original post requests recommendations for reliable and affordable health insurance in Thailand for a family with one adult and three young children. Comments highlight challenges with local insurance companies accepting children under 6, the benefits of purchasing international policies from reputable companies, and several specific recommendations for insurance providers, including Allianz and AIA. Users also emphasize the importance of ensuring the policy covers the visa type (DTV, tourist visa) and suggest reliable brokers for comparative services.

A DTV is considered a tourist visa, in Thailand you need a long term visa, beware of people offering so called health insurance on tourist visas, yo need to get a excellent international policy from your home country

Always get a policy from outside Thailand from a well known western company who has a reputation they don't want destroyed if you sue them and who are regulated in the country where you buy the policy.

If you buy a Mickey Mouse Thai policy, they may pay out or they may not but you can't sue them, there is no recourse if they delay or refuse and there is no effective governing body to regulate them.

It will cost more but it gives you surety.

No problem for adults but not much local health insurance will accept children’s applications when they are less than 6 years old.

AIA accept babies from 15 days, but they don’t accept foreigners (and children of foreigners) on DTV.
