What does the 'Valid until' date on a Non-immigrant O visa mean, and can it be extended for 30 days in Thailand?

Hi,

I am a UK resident. I have just received my 'Non-immigrant O' visa today. It is 'Valid from: 18th April 2025' and 'Valid until: 16th July 2025'

My question, is the 'Valid until date' the last day I can enter Thailand or the last day I can remain in Thailand?

Can a 'Non-immigrant O' visa be extended for 30 days in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK resident who received a Non-Immigrant O visa valid from April 18, 2025, to July 16, 2025, inquired about the implications of the 'Valid until' date and potential extensions. Clarifications were provided that the 'Valid until' date is the last day to enter Thailand, and the visa is valid for 90 days upon entry. The Non-Immigrant O visa cannot be extended for 30 days but can be extended for a year if requirements are met.

As long as you enter by July 16th, you'll receive a 90 day entry stamp.

You don't say what your non-O visa is for. If it's for being married to a Thai, you might be able to apply for the 60-day "visiting Thai family" extension, but otherwise the only extension available is going to be the 1-year extension with you meeting all requirements for that.

It doesn't matter what it's issued for, you can apply for and most usually get a 60 days extention based on having Thai dependant relatives if you have Thai dependant relatives. You don't have to be married, maybe have a half Thai child.

I'm not sure that an immigration office would allow someone who entered on a non-O based on retirement to apply for the 60 day visiting Thai family extension, or volunteer non-O, etc

They do, it's allowed on any visa or visa exemption. The criteria is not the visa you have but the relatives you have

I'm not talking about what is allowed. I'm talking about what they will actually do. For example there have been multiple recent reports of immigration refusing to allow someone to apply for the 60-day visiting Thai family extension after they entered visa exempt and also applied for the 30-day tourist extension.

Well yes, most offices only issue the 60 days visiting Thai dependants. Never seen an Immigration office issuing both the 30 and 60 days extention for the same visa/exemption/entry.

it was always issued before 60 day visa exempt. Most immigration offices required you to apply for the 30 day extension before they would even let you apply for the 60 day extension.

Not at Jomtiem, Sisaket or Ubon, the 3 Immigration offices I've used for the 60 days visit Thai dependant relatives extension of stay

Brandon iv asked questions before about the the non immigrant O visa , which you’ve answered, can I just rent for 3 months to open my Thai bank account , or does it have to be longer ? , as I want longer time to look around and find a place to rent for a year or buy ?

renting has nothing to do with opening a bank account. For that you need a long term visa and a residence certificate from immigration.

You need the bank account to the get the visa. That's why you should get the visa at the embassy BEFORE you go to Thailand. Because you won't be able to open a bank account with a tourist entry.

did you read anything I said? YOUR RENTAL AGREEMENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GETTING A BANK ACCOUNT. You need your passport, your visa, and a residence certificate from immigration. Which of those says rental agreement to you?

Your visa dates are the validity of the visa. You can enter on the last day and get your 90 stamp. The non O visa cannot be extended for 30 days, you can extend for 12 months but you would need to meet the extension requirements
