Can I extend my Non-Immigrant O Visa in Thailand after it expires?

ORIGINAL POSTER
* Non-immigrant O Visa, expires March 15, 2023

* Used once May-July 2022

* Going back to BKK Feb. 8th, 2023 for 70 days

* Question: can I enter the Kingdom on my non-I O and extend it for another year whilst in BKK? Or would it better to get 45 days Visa exempt (+ eventually 30 days) and then seek the extension for my non-I O Visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of entering Thailand on a Non-Immigrant O Visa that expires soon and whether it can be extended for another year while in the country. Community responses confirm that entry on the Non-O Visa is permissible and it is eligible for a one-year extension. They also mention an alternative option of entering on a visa-exempt basis to apply for a Non-O Visa in-country, but this may not be the most advantageous path.

You can enter Thailand on your multiple entry non-o visa no problem and it’s eligible for a 1 year extension as well even if your visa is multiple entry.

You can also enter on visa-exempt and apply for an initial non-O in-country visa then apply for a 1-year extension (because you cannot apply for an extension based on marriage directly from tourist visa or visa exempt entry). But I don’t see any upside on this latter way.

DO you have a Re-entry permit in your passport NOW?

Is your Non O issued as retired?

OR as Married to Thai

OR as Father of Thai child ?

Then IF it's multiply entry Non O you have re-entry during its validity.

Did you obtain it from your home country Thai Embassy or from Savannakhet Thai Embassy?

Curious as during COVID-19 there were few multi-entry Non O Visa as Married to Thai Issued in SE Asia... What's your passport nation?
