Is the validity of my Thai Non-Immigrant O Visa from the application date or entry date?

Hi Everybody. I just received my non immigrant o visa, only 2 days after applying which was nice.

But dates are valid from today for 3 months and not from the date I arrive, which I put in the application. Is this normal or a mistake? Will I only have until the valid date on e visa, or will I still get 3 months from whenever I enter?

Sorry if been asked before, I couldn’t find it in my search.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The valid period of your Non-O visa starts from the date of issuance and allows entry into Thailand within 90 days. Once you enter Thailand, you will be granted a 3-month stay from your entry date. It's important to check the stamp on your passport for the exact dates.

We have been looking into this too, however, on the Thai consulate website reads as though the visa date starts from date of approval and not the date of entry when entering the country. Thats why we are holding off until a month before we leave.

I think as others have said here, you get 3 months to enter from approval date. Then 3 months in country from date of entry.

When you are stamped in check the date on your stamp before walking away to ensure that it is 90 days as mistakes are made and difficult to correct later

Just bring that paperwork and present it at immigration when you enter at the airport. They will stamp your passport on that day and that will be your visa and date. Good?

not if the visa validity period had expired (not used within 90 days of issue).

not good, because of wrong wording. You enter on this 90-days Non-Imm-O visa, you will get stamped with a 90-days stay permit, and the visa will become void and expired after the entry

Think of your Visa as your "entry pass" to get to your stay.

Your entry pass is good until that time. Once you use it, you'll be granted a 3-month "Stay" from the time of entry.

That's how visas work. You have 90 days to enter Thailand. And then the non-O gives you 90 days in Thailand that start as soon as you enter.
