My nonimmigrant multi-entry O-A visa was approved November 8, 2024 and I used it to travel to Thailand from January 2 to end of April 2024. In order to enter Thailand again on the same visa must I enter Thailand by no later than November 7, 2024 or is it valid until January 1, 2025?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The nonimmigrant O-A visa is valid for entry into Thailand until the expiration date on the visa, which in this case is November 8, 2024. To maintain a year-long stay upon re-entry, you must enter Thailand on or before this date. Upon re-entry, as long as you have appropriate health insurance, you would typically receive a new entry stamp for an additional year.

I have been led to believe that to apply for an O-A visa, you do not have to show evidence of funds? Just saw this on e- visa portal, which contradicts what I read previously:

Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 65,000 THB or having the current balance of 800,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings.

to apply for an OA visa you show funds in your home bank and can only apply for it in your home country. If you want to extend it inside Thailand you need to meet the above financial criteria plus have the mandatory insurance

So you have to show the equivalent of 800,000 THB, or equivalent of 65,000 THB a month going into your UK bank account to apply for your initial O-A visa before you go to Thailand? Then after the first year and to renew it, you have to show the same in a Thai bank account in your name and in both cases health insurance, with a minimum cover of 3 million baht?

in the UK I think you can show the equivalent of 65k baht going into your account for just 3 months but to get an extension based on that you need to show a full 12 months before you apply for an extension. But you can get close to 2 years out of that visa by doing a border bounce just before the expiry date as long as you have insurance for the second year. The insurance requirement is 100k USD

Thankyou, there seems to be a lot of misinformation on FB., some people stating that to get an initial A-O visa from the Thai Embassy in your own country, you do not have to show any monies in a UK bank account. I don't know why people make statements unless they know for sure what they are saying is correct.

ok you're confused a bit between the visa expiration date and the entry stamp expiration date

when you entered in Jan you were stamped in for a year (until 2025) on an entry stamp, but when you stamped out of thailand in April that stamp cancelled so that jan 2025 date doesn't mean anything

As long as you enter the country on or before the date the VISA itself is valid for (Nov 7, 2025) you will get stamped in for a year entry stamp (or as long as your mandatory health insurance is good for up to a year)

so, since my visa is multiple entry, does that mean the stamp for one year did not get cancelled when I left Thailand April 2024?
Tod *********
the ENTRY stamp cancelled when you left the country in April and when you re-enter you'll get a new entry stamp

oops, I meant the visa was issued November 2023, and I entered Thailand January 2024, with multi-entry visa. So, I would need to reenter Thailand before November 2024, right?

, this might help to understand what you have

It is valid up to the November expiry date and if you have insurance for 12 months you will get a 12 month stamp

Your OA Visa is valid for Entry into Thailand for ONE YEAR from its ISSUE DATE... NOT ๐Ÿšซ FROM the date you first enter Thailand.

SO...if you leave Thailand and reenter not later than the One year expiration date of your OA visa... NOT LATER THAN NOVEMBER 8, 2024

You will be stamped in for One ADDED year... be sure to have proof of your health insurance policy for the one ADDED year.

And during the second year be sure to buy and have a Re-entry permit in your passport to preserve the ending date of your permission to stay stamp in your passport.
